I do agree with an increase in the weekly SP cap, but more than tripling it seems a bit much. those of us that have jobs will surely fall even more behind the people who don't have lives outside of video games. double the weekly cap sounds quite good, but any more than that will cause me to be further behind the 'no-lifers'. plus, if mom and dad put up enough money to buy three boosters to add to that weekly cap, us hard working adults are going to come home to an over-leveled mess of youngins that have more SP than we can ever manage to accumulate in the lifetime of Dust. being able to stack boosters contributes to the "pay-to-stay one step ahead" (I won't say "win") aspect of this game. it will earn CCP a bit more money, but adds to that slight feeling of needing to pay more to stay ahead of the game. CCP ought to bear in mind that those with money to triple stack boosters will earn 2.25 million SP each week, which means they will max everything so fast that the game will get boring quicker with nothing else to save up/work for. I would recommend either not raising the cap so much or not allowing triple stacked boosters; having both is overboard. that is probably my only complaint about the new patch though, as the rest of the changes sound quite good. the 'respec for aurum' was a good idea I had talked about for a while. I'm sure the community could start a thread of ideas for CCP to make money through purchases while avoiding the "pay-to-win" aspect as much as possible. |

It's the proto skills that define a protostomp. A person with proto skills is competitive against protoskill + protogear. It just means the smart fighters will be easy to pick out. They will decimate with adv/std.
Protostompers are lazy and as I know from experience, a dogpack of mlt newbies will kill my proto fatsuits faster than any Protostomper will.
AV is pretty much proto mandatory because even militia vehicles are balanced to take proto hits, not to be hit by lesser guns.

If the only reason to be against the new SP cap is because newbies can catch up to us faster, then I would like to point to the loyalty ranks veterans are getting that give us ANOTHER bonus on top of having far more experience already with modules and maps.
I mean seriously, with the SP reset option and all this SP pouring in, more than likely people will be bouncing around trying this and that, and will be more likely to make mistakes with their plans. I already see accidental drops of SP into useless skills like Vehicle Command or something like that happening more frequently.
I've got to applaud CCP on this, to be honest. I've always been the guy in the back muttering about how ISK should be the defining factor in a mercenary's life and effectiveness. We are immortal clone soldiers, why do we not already have all our skills already? That's the other reason for pushing for tiericide, but I like the spin CCP have put on it. People can acquire skillpoints faster, people get to prototype gear faster, so everyone can access the top-tier gear quite easily, but are limited in using it due to ISK, which I feel is much more interesting than being restricted due to grinding out the SP for it, because there can and should be many ways of earning ISK, but SP is more or less a simple grind.
Oh hahah, but wait, don't we veterans already have hundreds of millions stashed away, plus thousands of items stashed away in our asset warehouses ready to be liquidated to further boost our wallets?
Finally, threads complaining about the next patch are back. -breathes sigh of relief- DUST must be alive again.

When they started to become electric, there was a button called "Carriage Return" that would return the paper to the starting position so you could continue typing. This is why on my G510 keyboard the 'Enter' key has an arrow that points to the left. It is also why, on some keyboards, the Enter key reads Return or even CR. It is a holdover from a different time, just like the original QWERTY.
This minor troll has been brought to you by Joseph Ridgeson.
But, in truth, I mostly agree with you. My two big complaints are not so much the increased cap but rather the increase cap while only increasing SP gain per match by your WP and the Triple Stack Boosters. I'll start with the first bit.
You get 1 SP per WP and you get 5 SP per Second you are in the game. So if you play 10 minute games, get 1,000 WP a match you are looking at 4,000 SP a game. Needing 190,400 SP, you are looking at 48 games to cap. Say that you run with a Squad and pull in 2,200 WP a match, 5,200 SP a game or 37 games. Now that the cap is 750,000, what does that mean?
Well, 1,000 WP man gets 5,000 WP a game and needs 150 games to cap or 25 hours of play assuming he can go back to back games. Since he can't, let's say you get 5,000 WP every 11 minutes so 27.5 hours of sitting at DUST playing away in order to cap.
2,200 WP man is at 7,400 SP a match. 102 games, 17 hours in game, or 18.7 hours with a 1 minute delay between games. That is a lot of DUST to cap every week. In truth, I don't see many people being able to cap every week unless CCP decides to also increase the more important modifier of Time in Game. Double the SP from WP is so very minor after you have nearly quadrupled the SP cap a week.
Booster stacking is insane. For 30 dollars right now, you can get three 30 day Active and Passive Boosters. 1 base + .5 + .5 + .5 = 2.5 x 750,000 = 1,875,000 Active SP a week and 420,000 Passive SP a week. Cap out 4 times in that time frame and for 30 dollars you got 9,180,000 SP compared to the 3,672,000 SP from someone who did not. For me, getting 50% more SP than someone is "pay to get ahead" but 2.5 times more is strictly Pay to Win.
Overall CCP really, REALLY moved away from Passive SP with 1.9. Before Active was 190,400 compared to Passive's 168,000. About 13% more but now Active will be over 346% more. In truth, Passive Boosters are completely NOT worth the money anymore.

Skills can only go up to 5. This isn't like WOW where the 85 no lifer can autosquash the 30 casual.
At 20 million SP and a little specialization there is no functional difference between a new scout and a 70 mil SP scout. The 70 mil can likely swap to assault or logi easier. That's it.
