So today, I decided to blow 1 million SP on, among other things, the Minmatar Commando. I took it up to lvl 3. Naturally, I also skilled into Swarms, and took that to lvl 3 as well. And I've got to say, I'm loving it!
First thing I notice is the reload speed, which is pretty useful. Second is the melee damage; I melee killed 5 people today with the Winmando. I loled so hard
Here's my fit: Adv Winmando RS-90 CR ADV Swarms STD Hive STD Armour plate Enhanced Shield Extender STD Light Weapon Damage Mod
This thing's great for dealing with infantry or vehicles, and is perfect for when my Scout is too weak, but my Heavy is unsuitable. The only initial problem I had was running without my Crut- er, i mean, Cloak... Yes, I mean Cloak... This suit really is the Winmando, and I can add it to my Win Scout. Next, I may skill into Win Sentinel, or Win Assault.
What are your thought on the Winmando and my fit specifically, and the Commando generally?

I like my galmando more, but the winmando is definitely great. One of the reasons I specced into it was to melee kill people. I got about 10 melee kills in a match that day.

I have the Cal-mmando (lvl3), and I am actually enjoying it (now that they fixed its previously god-awful color pallet).
Personally, I wish it got the swam bonus instead of the Min, but whatever.
Anyway, it's great. The best use for it is to sit back and pick at people with the RR. Sniping is good too since you're resistant to other snipers and you get the highs and damage bonus, though it still isn't enough to balance out my poor sniping skills : /. Among the Commandos it has great regen capabilities (better still now that it gets +2 armor naturally).
It looks like some changes are in the works for the assault RR, so hopefully that works in its favor.
As for your fit, it looks fine, though I might consider tiering down the shield extender and tiering up the damage mod, or just use two damage mods, especially if there are a lot of vehicles out. But really, whatever works for you.
Dust is there! I was real!

Other fun things to try on your brand new Winmando:
- The Mass Driver makes a nice weapon of opportunity to clear out equipment spam and clustered enemies
- A Plasma Cannon nicely compliments a CR/ACR or MD, taking a big chunk of shield off your targets while you swap to your armor-shredding weapons. While the Winmando does not directly get a damage bonus to the PLC like the Galmando does, the reload bonus is still immensely helpful for the single shot plasma cannon and it works well on any commando.
- Two complex damage mods will give it comparable damage output to the other commandos at level 3 with any weapon, so don't be afraid to experiment with all sorts of different light weapon combinations (your fittings screen is screwed).
- KINCAT AND MYOFIBRIL STIMS, PUNCH A SENTINEL TO DEATH
- Hard mode: Plasma cannon AND swarm launcher will wreck vehicles quickly, but you better get real good at landing direct hits on infantry with that PLC... or melee.

Personally I love my Gal Commie, a Plasma Cannon and an AR is what I use, simple and wonderful, though I'm wanting to try out a GEK/GLU combo, I think it just might work... Eventually.
Not having a grenade makes me hesitant on going AV though...

I find the PLC does well enough as AV, you just need to bring hives along.

Damage mods in the high slots... makes that swarm and rifle pack a punch.
Commando's are at their best when on high ground that has cover.
Assault variant weapons are good to have to deter the scouts that WILL come at you.
If in a match with a low scout presence (almost impossible) Rail Rifle with net you a good amount of kills if you are positioned correctly on high ground.
You should have several commando fittings set up to reflect the type of enemies and maps you play on.
Some maps are pure death for commando's if they are fighting on the wrong ground.
Find spots that fit the role and camp the hell out of it.
Heavies run into covered letters, scouts roam the outside, commandos should be on high ground with clear lines of sight to the paths of vehicles in order to do their job.
Launching swarms on low ground just allows the enemy to rush you and your swarms with hit obstacles instead of the fleeing vehicle. |

Slowing down an AV suit is not a good idea because you'll have a harder time pursing vehicles who go to cover.
Agreed, this is why some find success with scout AV or assault AV |

Put a mass driver on for scouts.
They ragdoll the best.
Combine with a combat rifle for picking off fatties.

Combine with a combat rifle for picking off fatties. You would not believe how many times I've tanked my own PLC round just to lolsplash a scout. They never see it coming.

Most of the people I talked to thought of all the assault suits that it would be second only to the Amarr. I have it and it is a pretty solid suit it could use a slight Regen buff but other than that I like the suit. |

And every time you meleed some one you thought of me :)
Really switch the Armour plate for a complex repper, Have one damage mod, then shield tank. Nanohive is good for equipment. Try running PLC with Mass Driver , it is OP for building point defense. Have fun Dreis ! And tomorrow is the knock knock part 2 ;)
