Now that I caught your attention, let me bring you up to speed on something.

So this past two weeks I have been wanting to see if I still got my minja mojo by simply ditching the cloak altogether and sticking to my age-old tactics of sticking to cover like a booger on a wall, hugging the terrain like it's a "kawaii" anime girl, relying more on my eyes and less on the TACNET, checking all of my corners before turning them, being extremely heavy on the flanking, and being extra careful in picking only the battles that I know I can stand a snowball's chance in hell in.

So far, the results are in. I still got my minja mojo!

It's really nice to see that using the cloak has not made me lax on skill over the many months since cloaks were introduced. Even without the cloak fitted, I am still able to wreck heavies, surprise many assaults, and catch a handful of snipers with their proverbial pants down. Even when a few of them saw me coming, I am still able to make them lose their clones. Surprisingly enough, I haven't run into cloaky shotties as often as I expected. In fact, I have only died to cloaky shotties a few times over the past two weeks. This is not to say that cloaky shotties are being used less or something like that. It could be the result of me just avoiding the likely places to run into such players. Of course, I can't always avoid accidentally bumping into another scout I didn't see and I'm still vulnerable to the dedicated EWAR scouts. But as long as I stick to my tactics I mentioned, I can at least mitigate that.

Proxies are just for that extra point just in case I somehow manage to kill a LAV, which has happened a couple of times. The SMG is actually there for checking corners and relatively far distances. I don't use this for killing at all, though it is helpful in softening up a target before I finish it off with my knives. R-9's are actually meant more for me rather than for my team or squad. I often deploy them in places that are far enough away from any objective to avoid being scanned and while making sure it's not deployed along any common routes. The Flux Grenades are mainly for clearing out equipment and softening up any targets that happen to be huddled up inside a small room.

Though the purple "bling" of the suit can make someone wonder if I can be spotted easily, surprisingly I have not been spotted as much as I thought. Probably because all that's blinged out on my suit is that Nintendo Wii strapped to my chest and a few plates on my arms and legs. The rest of the suit is still duck tape.

One more tactic I use is that I always check the map on the overview before I deploy into it. I look to see where snipers are likely to perch themselves, sometimes hack an objective that everyone else seems to be ignoring, and -- on some maps -- I roam around along the enemy's redline to see if I can catch any stragglers that are scrambling to get into position. And I am still surprised to see a bunch of heavies still roaming alone.

But my best tactic is not obvious at all. Because I don't get as many kills as I use to compared to just kamikazeing in the most obvious places, no one notices me on the map. This means people who would otherwise change tactics at the first sign of my presence are not changing their tactics to counter me because I'm not appearing on the kill feed as often as I use to. They start letting their guard down and that's when I pounce while keeping myself unnoticed. I try not to kill too much lest I draw the attention of those who recognize me.

One more thing. I stopped worrying about winning the match and focus instead on picking my battles. I'll let the regular slayers deal with the winning.
