TL;DR so if this was said i appoligise for repeating
No.
That all.. jk
The reason why i say no, is that i think CCP an into some roadblocks trying to merge dust and eve together. Its one of these things that you can only gain from experence, and if you don;t try you can;t see it. Also i have heard that Sony was a pita when it came to patches. And, honestly, if Legion and EvE are both on pc, and under ccp's complete control, then the 6 week release cycle that eve has can easily be ported to legion and you would have vibrant and fast updates for legion at the same time that you do for eve. Now add in the fact that valk is on pc.. then you can see that doing everything on pc, maybe with it all on TQ would make managment and patching and eventually combining of all things, so much easier in the long run.
You also kill a middle man, who might say 'you know CCP, we don;t want you to have the abilty to do this because we really don;t want to allow non PS users access to this." or whatever
So again.. no |

Void Echo wrote:point being simple from the pc elitists "hardware limitations", our point being simple "we don't give a ****, CCP will make much more money by going onto console at the same time, especially since there are no big hits for the next gen consoles yet, so this would give ccp a massive head start at profits if they go to ps4".
saying that console gamers should quit whining and buy a pc is just ******** and ignorant, your kind are the reason pc elitists are so hated. why don't you just buy a ******* controller so you don't have to complain about your kb/m not being supported well enough on a console game?
double standard.
if CCP never releases it for the ps4, they should also take Valkyrie with them.
except i don;l think dust made enough to justify a ps4 release tbh |

Look at planetside 2. Sony has been running it for years now on PC and has continuously pushed back the PS4 launch. I think this really says a lot about the issues presented when comparing PC to console when even Sony them self has so much trouble. Agreed, I also believe that the consoles (if CCP ever got to release Legion on the ps4 and xbox one) would hold CCP back from achieving that original vision which is too much for me to explain in words so here : http://youtu.be/rKtYqWBR7h0 , http://youtu.be/aZ0k0ioROUo . The idea of an fps and Valkyrie entry into New Eden shouldn't be held back by a simple box. Im not sure if it is all a hardware issue tho. If you look at CCPs style in both Dust and Eve they seem to much prefer allowing the player base to quality check. Sony on the other hand, from what I have seen anyway, requires a drawn out process before publishing which really slows down the process. translation- CCP: just goes with the flow and releases everything at once for the players to get angry over and be happy over and does adjustments accordingly. Sony: requires the updates to be finished, polished and well done to the point where there are no visible bugs for anyone to get pissed off at before it gets released. did I get that right? +1 Close. Obviously Sony does not test based on in game bugs etc. Lets be honest if that was the case there would be no Dust. Sony's testing involves more in the line of system stability, clean of any backdoors to the playstation or playstation network, and so on. It is this extended testing process which seems to really rain on CCPs parade along with the issues that consoles present in the first place. Far be it from me to speak on whats going on behind the closed doors of CCP tho.
There is also a nice little factor that basicly every PS3 is the same. Same hardware, drivers, updates, etc. The same. Its much easier to find bugs this way, becuase if a dev makes an update, loads it onto his test ps3 and finds a bug, it should be replicatable on ALL ps3's. So in theory, if that bug is fixed it should be fixed on ALL ps3's.
Thats not the same for pc's. There are currently five different versions of windows that can run eve. Five. Each of these can be in different states of updates, there are something like 30+ different processors that can run eve. add in another couple hundred video cards, and hundreds of thousends of configurations. A bug that is not replicated on ccp's machines cause quite frankly they will all be really close to uniform, coudl show up on thousends of machines and not on thosends more. Thats the issue.
CCP has to have the player base QA because there is zero way to find all the bugs on every combination of machines available. Thats how it works.
My guess, TBH, is that:
1) the update process was too slow for ccp.
2) Dust did not make enough money to justify it going (but i doubt this)
3) There was a technology limitation on the ps3 that prevented ccp from doing the full stuff they wanted with dust.
4) there was a limitiation on PSN to CCP's network that caused them to not do what they wished.
5) something else.
The point i am making, is QA testing for the PS3 is EASIER then on pc. But if say sony has to screen it, it can slow down delvopment, and its easier to control a product on your own servers then on someone elses. |
