Fun post time, throw some games out there which the devs should look at for good ideas! I'll start.
Shattered Horizon! Because zero G is both nauseating and totally awesome.
A more obvious one, Planetside 2. Not saying make a clone but social aspects, oh and drop pods but that really spawns from a whole lot of awesome things. Point is look at it take the stuff which will fit well leave the rest.
I shall leave the rest to you community.

MAG was by no means perfect and it did have it's problems, but it just did some things perfectly (like the gamemodes and comms as I mentioned).
It's actually hard to show a good video on those things, but I guess you can get the overall idea of Domination (the biggest gamemode in MAG with 128 vs 128 players) from this video. You can also check out the videos on the other gamemodes.
The comms system was set up so that: Squad members could only talk to their squad (including their squad leader). Squad leaders could talk to their squad AND in a private chat with their platoon leader and other squad leaders within that platoon (a platoon was 32 players). Platoon leaders could do the same as squad leaders as well as talk to the OIC (Officer In Charge, in charge of all the 128 players) and the other platoon leaders in a private chat. The OIC could also talk to his squad and in private chat with the platoon leaders as well as broadcasting to the whole team (128 players).
All this meant that everyone had their role and the leaders could communicate with each other without interfering with everyone else.
I hope this gave a rough idea of it

128 players sounds awesome but they all aren't fighting in the same area I think I heard. I'll keep taking a look at the vids of some MAG gameplay.

All 256 players in Domination were fighting on the same map and could go anywhere they wanted on the map. You're right that initially players were broken into 4 groups fighting it off 32 vs 32, but nothing really stopped you from helping out another of those groups (for neither defenders or attackers). If all 4 attacking groups made it to their final objectives all 256 players would actually be fighting within a pretty small area.
Check out this overview of one of the Domination maps. It'll likely look very complex and not easy to understand at first, but I'm sure you can see that the attackers attack from 4 sides and eventually converge in the middle of the map at the 8 letters (A-H). Blue is the attacking side and red is the defending side btw.

MAG looked like fun but definetley needs a proper scifi skin. I got it! Pods! Not Eve pods but just big ass pods which fall out of the sky like 40k Drop pods or perhaps the Halo singles version.
Oh and a ship to drop them out of. Wait this was in one of their trailers! They drop out of an Amarr destroyer.
Do that CCP.

Planetside 2, for its conquest mechanics, forever changing borders and continual fight over control.
Red Orchestra 2, for its objective based maps, good map design, realistic pace of war, no bullshit levels and skills and gates, tactical game play and chain of command really affecting the outcome - having good commander and team leaders can win a battle. |

Being able to jump into a specific battle via a Server List was great. It would be better for Legion. Selecting a Specific Mining District with nobody there has its advantages, along with jumping into a full battle for a good fight.

Being able to just plonk down turrets and Walls was a neat gimmick in Starhawk, but they failed to capitalize on it. Legion could have it so a Corp could set up a base so it is easier to defend, or easier to move around in. Imagine being able to build your ENTIRE base out of bits and bobs, placing Objectives and Turrets and CRU's in advantageous positions (but within a certain area to prevent just spamming turrets everywhere), or being able to deactivate your foes turrets or make it so blast doors open to you, but not to the owners? Sweet-Sauce

Titanfall is a great example of vehicle/anti-vehicle balance. Infantry and titans have multiple strengths and weaknesses over each other, and while titans remain more powerful, every infantry unit has multiple methods to counter and combat them.

battlefield badcompany 2 for sniping and vehicle balance.
killzone for deployable turrets and drones.
eve online for visual inspiration because the shanghai art team is losing touch with new eden lore with these apex suits and the gallente light and heavy designs. eve online for balance and modules. were still missing more than half the modules from eve, we only have 5 slots where as eve has 8, were missing capacitors for proper active tanking.
Don't vote for iron wolf saber.
Vote for someone who will help the community i.e. anyone else.

id have to say Red Faction Armageddon
the vehicles have multiple view type even one that only picked up movement and one that picked up heat but made it a little harder to move because almost everything was grey blue.
this thread just got 20% cooler

and the game itself. some CCP's devs could maybe take inspiration of the level design and ambience for the futur features (there are explorers in EVE, so why not in DUST / LEGION 's PVE mode ).
do not worry, i don't want morph ball and screw attack. but it would be a GREAT game to take inspiration from.
Resistance 2 : the Coop mode of this game take place in rearranged multiplayer maps, i'm sure CCP will do the same by adding new objectives on the current ones.
