They never left. Too many basic and militia suits still using the things. Spotted a comment from one of the devs awhile back that said militia AR's were actually top in the killboard, even outdoing RR's and CR's.

Maybe it's because the AR is like a comfortable shoe. For so long it was the only option we had for a rifle that many of us got really accustomed to it. I still use my exile often.

I don't think the AR is a bad gun. Its just that the meta of armor tanking in unfavorable to a weapon focused on shields. Same for the scrambler but an even worse profile to armor.
The recent buff to AR especially the breach variants is what warranted many returning to the AR. Now if people would stop complaining about using a weapon meant for short ranges against longer ranged weapons and instead close the gap before engaging.

More like SMG 514 if you look at the sidearm market. The SMG actually sold more than the AR on the same day.

Yeah the AR is doing alright now days. The breach is pretty good (good enough it's my main choice on Manus Peak, crazy I know) but the regular one while good could still use a little love. The tac is alright for camping an objective and the burst, I haven't really used that one.
I think the Gal Assault bonus should be something a bit different though. We already have a skill that tightens hip fire dispersion for the AR.

Now you are about to ask "Why did Viktor do that?"
Did he expect a market boom in the future?
Did he love the weapon with all his heart?
Is he a major shareholder in Allotek Industres?
The answer to all of those questions is "Maybe. Sure why not?"
Truth is he is just a rich oligarch who turns his nose up at the "poor"s (pronounced as "puers")

As those are bought weapons,
If we are accurate, it actually means that AR is the type of weapon whose owners have the biggest need to buy new ones, i.e. are the ones getting killed

These stats can't account for BPO's though, right? It's really only part of the picture. The more dedicated players are more likely to own BPO's, potentially skewing the stats even further.

I love how the already low Scrambler Rifle just takes an nosedive. It is bought about as much as the Mass Driver now... It is bought about Gàô as much as the next lowest rifle.
Yet Rattati has the nerve to say that it is "in line with the other rifles, and where we want it to be."

Except that the nosedive coincides with a nerf to the ScR. Logically, we can say that the ScR is being bought much less because it was nerfed, not because the users are dying less, because they are dying more... because it was nerfed. Too much.

If they're dying more than the sales would actually be going up as more SCRs would be purchased upon restocking the dropsuit fitting. Then there's the whole "quantity does not equal quality" thing.
An easy example: you'll notice that Commandos and Assaults are the least purchased, despite the fact that they are both very good (at least where the Matari versions are concerned).
