After watching the video. I'm impressed. The map just looks huge and awesome.
A couple things that makes the game in the Closed beta much better than the game of today is the running animation and how the UI, Mini Map, and the ammo/ armor/ shield sort of wobbles when you run. That needs to be included.
I would love to have the scope back for the Assault rifle.
Is there a chance that the cliff map might make it, Maybe but that map would favor Tanks, Dropships, and mercs. I can see that the map as alot of choke points so this can be a great map to ambush tanks.
This is Skirmish version 1.0 Dust 514 Closed Beta Footage

THAT's what Dust used to be. It had massive framedrops, it had bugs, it had Swarm Launchers that killed everyone around you when you shot them at your feet while doing no damage to you.
But it was FUN. So much ******* FUN.
Skirmish 1.0 on Craterlake provided some of the best memories I have of this game. However, rather than iterate on it, the decision was made to cut it entirely in favor of Skirmish 2.0 which removed the Attack/Defense aspect entirely.
And now if Project Legion is approved Skirmish 3.0 will only ever be in EVE: Legion.

The dropsuits look shinier. And some of the effects (assault rifle plasma flares) and atmosphere is nice. But the framerate and the screen tearing is horrible.
The slow blade penetrates the shield.

There is so much about the early days of Dust that I miss.
Gun control is not about guns...it's about control.
The only way to ensure freedom is by having the means to defend it.

The only issue is that the long progression up to the game looking better sadly involved the gameplay suffering over time.
I wish we could have great gameplay like this back.

If we could have Uprising visuals with Skirmish 1.0 gameplay, this game might actually have more players online at once.

I still to this day will never understand as to why the original AR scope was replaced by the one we have now. I personally thought the original was just fine really.

Is this actually dust? It looks so different from what we have now. I dunno about you but that closed beta looks way better what we have now.

Why were these assets and maps rotated out of use?
Amazing concepts.

What I noticed about quite a few videos of old dust versions:
Overall game functionality was sacrificed for better graphics Sentinels were useless if they didn't have good aiming coordination. People lived from good strafing rather than dying from actually trying to survive when strafing There wasn't the bullcrap where a dust player runs/sprints far less as fast as an actual human, but strafes for beyond as fast like right now. Scouts didn't ruin nearly every aspect of gameplay as they do now.
Dust went through major decadence.
Antisocial players don't deserve their solo gameplay.

because it was too awesome
A high definition camera that sends a feed directly into your suits display, letting you precisely aim your gun while getting a clear view of what you're shooting?
NO, LETS GO BACK TO GOOD OLD FASHIONED IRON SIGHTS, AND BLOCK THE ENTIRE LOWER HALF OF THE SCREEN AS WELL AS THE TARGET YOU'RE TRYING TO HIT, BECAUSE IRON SIGHTS ARE THE HEIGHT OF IMMERSION EVEN IN SPACE
I hate iron sights with a passion, and the first thing I do in any game with unlockable optics for the weapon is get anything else. Sniper scope on a shotgun? **** it, at least it isn't an iron sight |

AR users have no right to complain.
Remember how Laser Riflers dealt with Iron Sights and a constant muzzle flash with terrible tracking.......

This... is really not true. Although it depends on which version you're looking at.
There was a time when heavies could literally go toe to toe with LAVs and had similar HP totals. There was also a time when forge guns fired LAVs.
Some of those were good times.
You have long since made your choice. What you make now is a mistake.
