I usually just hunt down reds at long range. This build usually does pretty well for me but after Delta it's just not really working anymore, what should I change?
thanks for any and all advice.
Thats pretty much my scout fit except I use guaged nanohives and uplinks with a submachine gun instead of cloak/k-2/magsec.
I think theres no real problem with it except it doesnt really win head on with anything, and it doesnt really win against damped scouts, etc. Just make sure you are attacking from blind angles and all that good stuff, exploit cover, high ground, etc.
What are you having trouble with specifically? Or does it just generally not work anymore? |

The fit isnt really dedicated to hiding.
Range amps allow him to see enemy medium/heavy frame targets around 2/3rds - 3/4ths into his rail rifles range and engage or move to a good spot to engage as soon as possible. I'd say he could drop one range for one damp, but dampening is not the issue unless hes being targeted by alot of scouts. |

I haven't played a match in dust for a long time where scouts weren't targeting me.
:D
Like I said, he might drop one range for a damp if hes running into a lot of scouts, more than that is generally a waste against damped cloaky scouts, they dont generally run alot of precision.
Think of it this way, the range amps are his defense against non damped scouts, mediums, and heavies. He can sacrifice some of his vision on them to protect himself from **** scouts. Its a trade off. Most matches you wont need to make that trade off though. |

When you say it's not really working, what do you mean by that?
In other words, what's killing you now (or what aren't you killing)? Scouts and Heavies
OK. For heavies, just be more careful, you should have the drop on them pretty much all the time (unless some other unit forces you into a bad position).
Always remember you dont have to kill the heavy in a single engagement, just blast his ass off, then when he starts responding/firing back, duck back into cover. You can move to new position and stalk him and re-engage when its good time. Also dont be afraid to just let go and let him walk away. Worst case scenario you just made it 200+ hp easier for your teamates to take him down later.
For scouts, if you are running into alot of scouts that are damping under your scans, try to remove a range extender, add a damp, and remove a precision mod and add a shield extender. There is no way to scan these chodes, so you can go easy on the precision (you will maintain wall hax against medium/heavies, and even alot of cruddy scouts). What you want to try and do is maintain parity with the enemy scout's precision so that you can at least hide from them. Thats the only response that is effective, because there is no counter. If one dampener doesnt do it, you can give up and go assault/heavy suit, or drop your last range extender and add another dampener.
Also you could try dropping the magsec for an SMG, so that when you are surprised by a scout at close range you have something that is optimal to fight them with. Another possible idea is to drop the rail rifle and pick up an assault rail rifle, which is generally better in cqc.

If running with a squad I use range amps to benefit the squad.
Truth. If you are running those range extenders for your teamates you definately want to stick with it. Also pro tip: if you die, your passive scans remain active until your clone is terminated, so dont terminate if some **** is going down and your friends need those scans! |
