Now before I ask this question, it has become clear to me that I'll have to make sure you all don't try to misinterpret my question and make it a long debate about how OP ADS are.
1) I'm not asking for our old ROF back
2) I'm not asking for old recharge AB times back
3) I'm not asking for you to tell me what my role as an ADS is. It's whatever I want it to be. In the words of "The Infected One": My mom said I could be whatever I want to be, so I wanted to be a truck  .
4) I'm not asking to be invincible.
5) I'm not asking for a giant paragraph telling me how OP ADS were. I already know, and actually was for nerfing it a bit.
6) I am however, asking you to look at this here and what I'm going to type below because I didn't have enough space, and answer me one question.
I didn't put forge reload speed in there because against a good forge who can hit me all four times with his forge will end the battle, killing me.
I use the triple rep maddy because I'm a scrub, also don't like the turning speed (I prefer the Gunnlogi).
Now on to my question, it's simple enough. If you were going to be a pilot (let's say you were going to skill into it), given the information I just showed you, would you skill anything beyond level 4? Or would that be a waste of SP, or more useful somewhere else?

I guess the guys in ccp cant fly an ads cos im constantly running from AV in my python
I tried fitting my python differently
Before:
Python
1 Comp Shield Extender
1 basic Shield Booster
1 Afterburner
1 Pg Upgrade
After:
Python
2 Shield Hardners
1 Enhanced Shield Extender
1 pg upgrade
meh its good but cant stay alive for a whole game if they have AV.....Which every person on dust has proto now, Also why is proto AV Going against standard vehicles? cos it only takes lev 1 operation to get a python or a maddy

I personally use the AB all the time. I used to feel guilt before Delta,but now I'm merciless about. At least that good thing came out of Delta.

For some skill books, Level 5 or Proto is the minumum requirement to fit a proper ADS.
Whether you prefer Armor or Shield, you will need either one to level 5 to unlock complex shield or armor modules, whether plates, reps, extenders boosters, hardeners.
You will need level 5 in small turrets to unlock the missiles, the only useful turret left for pilots.
You will need level 5 core upgrades, so you can fit the modules on a dropship.
Beyond these core modules, there isn't much else that needs to be fully specced into from my point of view. But you wont have as good as a fit as a specialist. Level 3 in most core is as good ass an investment as proto in one. Why spend half a million on 3%-5% of a bonus on one module when you can go from 0% - 15% in another.

For ADS, you have the worst skillbook list there.
ADS never had much issue with CPU, so skilling into electronics is useless. If i were you, I'd also drop shield fitting OP to at least level 3, again, not much cpu intensive (unless electronics has something to do with AB, I can't remember).
My fit doesn't require much into core calibration, but I've seen fits that do.
Other than that, you also forgot shield recharge delay (not sure of the name, but well worth it).
I also made a mistake up there, my main issue was with the ROF bonus, and I neglected to point that out. will edit soon enough.

I have an alt that is a ads pilot, and my main is av forge gun which I have versed you on many occasions in pc, and I have to agree that the rof nerf was to much if I had to make a point I'd like rof to be 5 each level it gives me a challenge as aver I don't fear dropship at all like I use to. Infact normal dropships seem to be a bigger threat with pilots! |

It isnt that important because the turn rate bonus does not affect the front facing turret. And since you are the pilot most of the time, you rarely end up in the gunner's sit. The turn rate only affects left/right rotation not up/down.
Unless they fixed that

Python ROF and everything else about it is fine. Incubus rails overheating/ROF need to be reworked. And the skill multiplier for ROF needs to be severely reduced to make it worthwhile to skill up.
Also collision damage between dropships needs to be reworked. If you want to ram, fine. However you should lose your drop ship as well.

I didn't go above 3 before, I wouldn't even consider it now.
Definitely shouldn't be what it was before... I'm thinking we need a different bonus altogether... Hardener + resistance maybe for our short bursts of strafing runs?
Or flight speed increase, but not effecting the afterburner, so that we can actually choose to fly without an afterburner and not be downed by a swarmer without any chance to react.
I should clarify I don't use the Python, not because of handling, not because shields, not because bonuses, but because it's one ugly piece of junk... lol.
Bus all the way, but both need some fixing. |

I was talking about the ROF, not the proficiency.

If I had my vehicle SP back, I wouldn't invest in the racial ADS skills whatsoever. The current bonuses are utterly worthless. Better to spend the SP on useful skills: fitting, defence, utility or turret skills are all far more worthwhile than 3% ROF per level.
