When asked for what will act as an ISK sink in 1.9, Rattati replied "Factional Warfare".
However, the ability to sell weapons straight to an NPC vendor, AKA creating money out of thin air, makes me doubt that. In EVE you can only sell them to other players, meaning no new money is being thrown into the system, but that isn't the case with selling items to an NPC vendor, and is actually one of the largest sources of inflation in other MMO's.
If you can buy a Factional Warfare weapon and sell it, even if you only get 50% of its value, you will still, overall, create ISK out of thin air from the whole process.
Personally this doesn't bother me, I don't really care about inflation since we aren't getting an actual player market. However Rattati's reply seems to imply that CCP still somewhat cares about it, so I'm wondering if you guys are aware of this and what are your plans/thoughts about it?
I might just be over analyzing Rattati's reply and they don't really care, but hey, I want to know.

Aaaaand suddenly I realize that you can sell Aurum items. Meaning that you can turn $$$ to ISK directly, without having to sell it to another player who grinded a bit to get that ISK in the first place.
Whelp, this whole thing is a moot point then.

I honestly haven't kept track of all of the AUR gear I've earned from events and newsletters, I never use the stuff. I have to admit, I'm going to be a rich bastard after the NPC market hits. I have a ridiculous amount of prototype aurum weapons. In fact, I bought 100x of each and every single prototype weapon in the game when they were 60% off. My assets might be worth more than I thought lol

If we aren't going to have a market then we might as well have players with the ability to run their best gear while trying to win matches. Hopefully FW is enticing enough to make the hardcore players do all their stomping there.
If I were CCP I'd continue tweaking the payouts until FW is that place. People sell plex in Eve all the time instead of grinding ISK to do whatever it is they want to do. Having people buy AUR stuff to generate ISK for themselves is good for CCP. But I think the best path for CCP to use for AUR sales is the FW boosters. Perhaps they should do a limited window for AUR to ISK sales. This would allow for people to get something for the stockpiles of AUR gear. Then switch it so that the AUR items are sold for AUR. If LP items are sold for ISK then people would buy the FW boosters to increase their riches.
That's actually a great idea and I would like CCP to implement it.
As a note though: PLEX sales work because it doesn't generate massive amounts of ISK out of nowhere. That ISK has to come from somewhere, and it's usually a guy grinding his ass off in level 4 missions to get ISK to sub his account lol
