Do you ever get those times where you think to yourselves, "Damn it, if there were at least three other players of my skill level on this team, we'd take this match with ease," when going up against a full squad of players from a pubstomping corp?
I may seem conceited with this statement, but there are times where I can't help but feel that another "me" on the team would be enough to secure a win, or at the least, put up one hell of a fight for the opposition.
I'm not saying I'm a good player, but when I can hold my own against squads of Prima Gallicus, 1.up, S.A.I.U.K.I., etc. and go positive with 25-35 kills and end with a good amount of WP from uplinks, hives, revives, and such, then that has to count for something, right?
Lonewolves, what are your thoughts? |

Yeah, it kind of sucks when it feels like you are the only reason the match is even close.
Sometimes I look at the leaderboard at the end and think, "Man, if you are so bad at slaying, why don't you try to hack something?"

CCP can't for some unknown reason implement a "victory" isk reward so no one really cares to achieve it. the sound of a PUG squad cheering and patting each other on back at the end of match can only fulfill for so long.. give me isk and i will help you win the stupid pub match.

Silent 3 man squads are what I tend to do.
I run solo in a locked squad, with headphones and music normally. If I get into said situation where im the only one doing anything, I normally invite the best redberry and next best blueberry into my squad and silently stroll to win the next match. Works surprisingly well, and still makes me feel like im solo'ing.

Actually just came to the forums to vent on this. I usually go lonewolf but today I'm drinking and feeling frisky so I joined a squad finder group. Some scrub Corp I forgot the name. But they insisted on barricading us inside a building and wanted to use what they called the "logi heavy " method or what ever. You know logi repping the heavys yada yada. I ran my new quafe with all blue print gear and a sl assault RR. I go 15/6 have the most kills in game all the rest go negative except one guy he went 14/7. Then they CALL ME OUT! say "I'm running out side and getting killed too many times. " Obviously these fools are indeed fools and I'm fed up of going lone wolf and am looking for a Corp to invite to their channel. Any takers. 40 MIL sp vet. And yes my Corp is dead for now... So looking for a good Corp to chill with (not join)

My first few months of DUST were complete lonewolfing. Mainly because I didn't know who to trust, who to listen to, and who would bother putting up with the game in its then sad state. Learning Coalition was my first step to getting connected and soon after, squads.
But those days where I just can't find a squad, I do lonewolf, and I either do well or suffer deaths.
Give the Magsex some love.

I feel the same way all my chats are dead im always pulling my squads. Im thinking ill make a chat lonewolf recon, something like that. Ill get a password lock on that sucker, only good players and no spamming. |

I always, always, always run with at least one other person. But rarely do I run with people I do not know. If there was a mode where squads were restricted from joining I think it would be fun.

Hives are great as sniping bait; most of the newer hunters don't realize that and try to start their search for the sniper at the hive. Long range confirmation is all you really need for the hive to start looking for general direction.

LAV bait was one of my more favorite ones. Draws out AVers and distracts them or any errant person wanting to hack it. Though this is far more effective in a two man team.

As a soloing Logi with decent situational awareness I am quite capable of organizing a battle on my own. So I tend to finish on top of the board WP-wise and am often the single force of resistance against overpowering Pubstompers...
... if I care.
Equally often I just dont give a **** and **** around, trying out idiotic strategies, explore unviable fittings (everything not proto), crash a few dropships, or just test the new ranges of the sniper rifles, while watching the yogscast on youtube.
So that is the casual solo player curse for you. Sometimes I like powering against the Pubstomping wankers, sometimes I dont. What I dont like is being tied down to some "winnig strategy" and "efficiency" bullshit. I am just a girl that wants to have fu'un. I pay for that with bad Kdr and many lost Matches. But 35/0 ... 3 times on the enemy team (Pubstomper squad)? seriously, WTF? Game broken much?

Some of my worst lone wolfing experiences are when I'm that ******* who places uplinks in high spots in a domination. I'm not sure how, but each link I place seems to drop blueberry IQ by 10%
On Impact Ridge domination, with a trapezoid building socket in the middle, I ran over to climb the ladders and place uplinks on the top of the building. The two teams looked even, no pubstomping squad shenanigans, so its going to be a fun match fighting over the high ground above the objective, right?
In hindsight, I should have replaced my uplinks somewhere where they would instantly kill the user.
Ten minutes in, the enemy still has the objective. My ENTIRE ******* TEAM IS ON TOP OF THE BUILDING WITH SNIPER RIFLES AND STARTER FIT PLASMA RIFLES. They are 25 meters away from the only objective. The enemy team is spread out under it, and probably couldn't defend the objective in 10 seconds if anybody just tried to hack it.
I spend the rest of the match jumping down in bpo fits, killing 2-3 people before getting cut down by a militia heavy, if anyone would just jump down with me, yes even you dip**** in the Sniper starter fit, we could hack the objective just once this match, our MCC is at 25% armor JUST PLEASE ****ING JUMP DOWN
My team never left that rooftop, and the enemy team never bothered climbing up to clear it off. |

everytime i solo i forget i have a team and go for their links first before i kill anyone, then i kill their team and place my own links and use BB's as decoys as i flank their team. then its just simply Die, Restock, Repeat

I can't bring myself to use my mic or squad finder anymore, though I've been gone for a few months and can't lonewolf worth a f*** anymore, it's still fun but I guess I'll have to re-work my build and squad for just a little while. |

The things that kill me is when I am the only one that has droplinks and no one else pulls any out, if there is an ads grinding players and I am the only one to pull out av, or there is more than 1 "carrier" sniper on my team.
There are a ton of other things that drive me nuts like:
Someone hacking a turret that is one shot from being destroyed.
Someone on my team hacking and stealing my Remote explosive bait car
Someone blocking my cover
And countless others.

I have run solo since is started last November. I have many roles (scout, assault, logi, commando, and senteinel) which allows me to be adaptable and solo petty good. That said, I'm no slayer but when i pull my min logi out with a half way organized/active team I can turn the game.
My min scout with links has also turned stomps into victories with well placed links and timely hacks.
My minmando has cleared many maps of vehicles turning the tide of the game.
And my min assault and sentieniel have held the point to tip the balance.
Diversity is a must for a solo player, I become whatever the team is lacking or what ever exploits the other teams weakness.
This has allowed me, an average player, to consistently run top 5.

Seriously, the blueberry AI isn't programmed to handle situations like that. It's like not feeding your Gremlins after midnight. Don't put uplinks in high places in public matches. Thanks. |

Yeah it took me a while to figure out ^this^ you put uplinks on rooftops for bloobs and they either stay their and wait for a barrage on them or they lemming of the edge repeatedly into the fire... Only put them on low rooftops where the bloobs will jump down because they can get shot easily, lol. |

I don't get much past 3 kills average and can help win a match. Why are kills the measure of a win when everybody complains about people looking to boost their kills don't help a team? It's about being where you need to be and if you are competing against a proto team it isn't about skills. It is about gear and communication. They have the gear and comms so your team just can't compete on usefulness when three people are getting two shotted by evry one of them.
I for one must forego the communication. I don't want to hear nor talk to anybody. I especially don't want to listen to all the wierd sounds coming from other people's
Lack of communication hasn't stopped me from being useful though. My kills don't reflect my usefulness otherwise.

I know it's not the best way to win, but there's a good few matches get won or lost on the clones... And if you're dieing more than you're killing you're not as helpful as you could have been.
Not to say you're bad, a good logi/hacker/pain in the arse that chases everyone away is an asset to the team, but don't tell people they're useless when they go +20 kills, it helps the team, even if they're just farming nabs. |

Man, you are missing out on so much.
I play solo a lot in the afternoons after work and before dinner. But when I get time to sit down and play, I squad up.
This game really, really shines when you play in a squad/team.
