Well OP, back when I used the FOTM CalScout, I found that the Assault Rail Rifle worked for me the best. Good at both long and close ranges.

On my caldari purist account, I tried the RR/NK combo on the scout... but I could not get the combo to work. I found myself using the RR almost exclusively, despite wanting to be knifing. I suppose it was more of a mental thing: Why use the shortest range weapon when you have the longest ranged rifle in the game? Could not get over it.

I then switched to the Magsec/NK combo, and then once the BP fervor started, I figured I might as well join in. Worked much better, and naturally found a better knifing:shooting ratio. The NK never really complimented the RR. Too much of a range difference for my taste.

After the 1.25 mil SP i get from the sidearm event i will skill into the Ishokune assault SMG....might do dual Ishokune Assault SMG's or that and Ishokue NK's

Not an option for shield scouts. I don't want to get embroiled in my own weapon. Give the Magsex some love.

I might try an ishokune combo. But what baffles me is that the don't have an assault magsec SMG. The minmitar has the combat rifle and SMG made by boundless and six kin but the caldari has the rail rifle, magsec SMG and the bolt pistol in kalaakiota...but no sidearm that is a gun in ishokune scout ck.0 here!

My caldari trolling scout is plc flaylock flux. Ona amar scout with re's and nanos. Just don't try and hit at range after a few shots and the rifle starts kicking. Let off button and start shooting again. It is very good at distance. I've never used the ACR, but I can't tell you how many times I've died up close to it when using the ARR. Its higher ROF appears to make hitting fast strafing suits much easier.
