Spent my 4.2m SP on going full Amarr after I found the Minmatar Assault less than ideal after months of taking a break.
So my second day back I was playing Minmatar Assault (level V), and feeling like I was kind of bad speed wise, stealth wise, armor wise, shield wise, CPU/PG wise... etc. Just a general degradation of performance vs how I felt before my vacation. So I was there, a vet looking mediocre getting owned by Scouts, Assaults, Sentinels, Commandos and even stray shots from Logistics who just happen to get lucky. Imagine a scout suit but if it lost every good attribute but kept all the bad ones.
I died a couple times, more than I could count on one hand, and I kept going back into the same Gallente building to try and protect the Command Post just to end up feeding the enemies with kills. There was this one guy, though, decked out full Amarr who I never saw die and who was in the same spot spitting out fire at anything he saw.
I sat back, dropped my sticks, and thought to myself in a very Mars Blackmon/Spike Lee sort of way, "What makes him good? Is it his aim? His sensitivity? His Suit? His tactics? His strategy? His suit? His modules? His weapons? His skills?... Naw, it's gotta be da suit".
An hour later I'm 4.2m SP poorer and hell is rising every time I charge my Scrambler Rifle.
Amarr for life. No regrets.

What makes the Amarr good are is our cause to unite humanity under one banner and to sweep away the evil that has infested our universe.

As perhaps one of the most technologically and scientifically advanced peoples in New Eden... the Amarr present a very interesting duality.
And lets be honest sabre..... the Gallente worship the Amarrian God.... not just Him but have adopted half a dozen religions from spiritualism to dualism.

I have always liked the Amarr concept of slow and steady, it would be my second choice suit behind the Gallente assault...But with the MD it's been unattractive due to the lack of speed and being held down by stacking armor mostly because I like the idea of building a suit that is fitted to taking on people 1v1, I think Ivan from NS use to run MD and Amarr from time to time....albeit when it comes to sitting behind your teammates or just holding out long enough in a room of enemies crawling everywhere it sounds like it could work. Still...I love stacking damage mods and armor rep mods.

Considering Amarr's Scrambler Rifle and Laser Rifle are actually complimented by the Assault suit, something Gallente unfortunately does not (considerably, at least), it's better than Gallente's Assault. I think the only thing Gallente actually has a leg up over everyone else is our Commando's Plasma Cannon coupled with something close range (though, there are still better close-range weapons from other races...) and a scanner Logistic. I can't speak for the other Assaults, though Caldari's bonus makes me laugh.
Prof. V Plasma Cannon and Gallente Commando V. There is no regret. Only explosions.

However of the primary rifle weapons the Laser and the Scrambler Rifle are the least forgiving of **** ups on your part.

I am a gk assault as well and went ak commando for the LR because it gives me 2 extra slots at 1% less dmg which is a pretty big deal when commando suits have so little slots. Can every other class do more damage with my racial weapon sure, but they can't fit it aswell on a commando unless they are not a commando lol.... aww

amarr assault is pretty much the best assault suit at the moment.
you can fit 3 damage mods and still have very good tank due to the PG/CPU the suit offers. I do not think such a fit is possible with any other assault suit. it also features a very good bonus to ScR which with 3 damage mods melts through anything. the -20% penalty to armor does not really matter when you have huge damage to compensate for it. |
