id also like to see precision, range and damps bonuses for scouts be tied to the modules(someone suggested that awhile ago and it's stuck in my head)
Scouts can still get a eWar bonus, but toned down to match the new skill bonus.

If you remove shared scans there won't really be a point in changing the bonuses.
You would just have 100% scouts everywhere you'd look. Those too stubborn to run a scout would get farmed ruthlessly.

For removal of shared scans to be viable the entire ewar system needs to be reworked for precisely the reason odinson states. |

I think applying bonuses to modules would help. I also think making it so a medium frame with a complex precision enhancer be able to pick up a scout with no modules would be great.

The thing is, it would be ok if the system still worked the way it did in the past. A scout was spongy and was dead if he was caught and couldn't react in time. So the scout being invisible was fair.
With the way things are now, a scout is pretty much on par with a assault with how long it can survive(they can't get a decent chunk of ehp and plates just make them as slow as a assault suit, mix the smaller hit box and higher recharge rate and the fight isn't so one sided)
Of course I want my old Gallente to be good, but I just want every suit to have a role it can perform better then others.

The best logi suit I've ever run was the pre-nerf Cal Scout with passive scans and a rep tool in PC.

So, maybe I'm an idiot, but what if we kept shared passive scans, but had it enabled by an equipment module? Like, you can only have a shared passive scan if you equip a "scan data link" equipment mod or something.
Does that have potential? |

Does that have potential? This makes way too much sense.

Does that have potential? I Think it does, but it would have to be balanced vs the scanner.
The module would have to have a very low fitting cost(since you will still have to use modules to gain range/precision) and perhaps a drawback, such as it raising your profile slightly.

Does that have potential? I went back in time to suggest it, cuz it was such a great idea.

I'm slightly shocked that one of the first ideas I have that I share is legitimately good.
I honestly never saw that before. However, I think that great minds think alike....
Of course, given the recent changes to scouts, I'd say that this would be best implemented as an equipment mod. This then gives more of a teamplay dynamic to scouts- fitting such a device gives shared passive scan to your squad, but requires you to sacrifice the cloak if you want nanos/REs/links or vice versa.
I like well-designed tradeoffs. This is why I don't really like Ganjas right now. (a built-in damping bonus and four lows? That's totally a good idea.) |

My Corp fielded a ringer "friend of a friend" who when asked said they ran CalScout. The individual was placed with a squad and about 3 minutes into the match I found them at my elbow repping my squad heavies with me, in our location. Several times I told this person to rejoin their squad, which was tasked with taking a nearby objective and having a very hard time doing so, but they were unresponsive. We ultimately lost the match on inability to secure our primary goals, and the ringer went top of the board. In alliance chat the person raved about having done super well in pc and when asked all I could say was, yes you did fine. In reality, that CalScout was integral to our loss. The squad he'd been assigned to, to be a scout for and provide scans/flanking fire? Murdalized. The point his squad had been assigned to? Red the vast majority of the game. And the OBs that could've been sent to help that squad? Never acquired, since he soaked the points for himself and his squad total from what would have been available to me and my squad total effectively eliminating OBs from either squad. Moral of the story? That particular CalScout "logi" was trash, as was the pc experience with him (or her).
