Hey, Xavier here. This is an updated scout guide for all races!
As many of you know, every scout is different (of course) but they can be fit in different ways. In this guide I will try to explain all the different types of ways you can fit a scout and how NOT to fit a scout. Begin.
The main different scouts: Hunter scout, Counter-espionage, Espionage, Overwatch, Slayer, Recon, AntiVehicle
They are all used for different things, but still maintain a stealthy profile. The slayer scout for example will be less stealthy than the overwatch scout as the way I fit a slayer scout is without a cloak field or dampenersGǪso other scouts with precision will be able to detect you. The basic way to fit these classes;
Hunter scout: This scout is used for 'hunting' other scouts and enemies. Average fitting used: A dampener to still be un-detectable is handy. It is tanked more than the average scout because it will be CQC'ing a lot more, and more total HP will be a huge benefit. Not much other eWar is wanted because you don't want to sacrifice to much tank for a module or 2. A cloak is necessary.
Espionage: This scout is used for assassination, and normally runs 2 dampeners with a shotgun, knives or RE's. A fully automatic weapon is highly recommended using this suit as well.
Counter-espionage: At least 2 precision enhancers is used when running this suit, to see all the dampened scouts. Kinetic Catalyzers are also important to catch up to other scouts. A shotgun is a great weapon to use for counter-espionage instead of knivesGǪas many scouts use shotguns and knives lose all the time when face to face with a shotgun (unless proper strafing techniques are used)
Overwatch: As well as dampened, this scout has a high cloak-field duration. It is mainly used for watching a point. Being able to be unseen while enemies run past you and staying cloaked up for extended periods of time is the main play style of an overwatch scout. Dampeners and a prototype cloak field are highly recommended.
Slayer: Pretty simple. A tanked scout with minimal eWar and no cloak which allows for more tank. A scout-assault variant basically.
Recon: A scout designed to place links in strategic places, flank enemy lines and destroy links. As well as dampened, this scout should carry at least advanced links and grenades. Armour tanking is not recommended as that slows down a scout.
Anti-Vehicle: Any scout suit that uses packed AV grenades and RE's. At extreme cases a swarm launcher, although I highly do not recommend it.
Well, there you have it! Please add any thoughts/content you think I missed, and flaws in my explanation. I run a caldari scout so my setup will be different to other races.
Cheers,
p.S
DO NOT FIT A SHOTGUN WITH KNIVES

Henrietta Unknown wrote:I perform espionage in my Gal suits. When in my Cal suits, I dabble in Recon, Counter-espionage, hunter, and overwatch activities. All in the same suit. Making a specific suit for each scenario is tedious and unreliable since I don't count on dying all the time. Simply build the suit to be as good as it can in most, if not all roles (aside from slayer, ew).
