Im back again seeking the wisdom of the forumites. So, is the caldaru sentinel any good? If i wanted a sentinel suit, should i get the that one or a different one? Is getting a sentinel suit worth it at this point? Why?

Caldari is best for heavy vs. heavy and forge gunning, amarr is better for everything else.

Alright, so amarr and caldari are the best sentinels, but are sentinels worth it in general?

Is good to have 2 or 3 different suits to accommodate to different situations. The sentinel class make for good guardians and area denial entry. Pretty much, if you want to defend a point then get a sentinel to stand guard. You can also help conquer an area but, as fire support. Sentinels make for bad solo play because they are too damn slow. If you manage to get to your objective then great but, getting there is the problem. They just don't have the maneuvers to do it. I only have some experience with the Caldari and Ammar advance heavy. Here are my thoughs.
If you are on your own then the Caldari is better. The Caldari as a fast shield regen so, if you can take cover for a few seconds you are back in the fight in no time. Most people run anti armor weaponry so your shields can take some punishment. Their weakness however are #1 flux grenades. 1 Flux and ALL of your shields are gone. #2 You shield does not regenerates if you are being hit. So, even one bullet can slow your recovery and can get you kill since it stops the regen.
The Ammar on the other hand is better for group play or if you have a logi on your side. You see, the logi can repair that armor and keep you alive plus the repair plates, once activated repairs you while you are being hit. You also have a huge armor buffer easily getting into the 1,000 range. Finally since you are armor based you can used that high slot for 1 damage mod making you super deadly. The catch 22 is that armor regen is slow so, if you are by yourself and slow on health then you'll probably die. Another drawback is that there are a lot of anti armor weapons (combat rifle, rail rifle and a bunch others).
I sues scouts all the time and they are great at what they do. They are good at infiltrating, capturing objective and killing the stragglers that wonder off outside of the herd. However, when the enemy attack in force or you need to penetrate a heavily defended area the scout has a very hard time. It is difficult (albeit not impossible) to play a domination with a scout but, the heavy is right at home there. |

caldari is the best solo heavy but the worst when you play with a logi. Amarr is the best for playing with logis and one of the worst playing solo.

Is getting a sentinel suit worth it at this point? Why? Shield is harder to go through, but extenders at their base give 33, 44 and 66. With skills, they're obviously increased a little, but I still hold to shield being harder to go through.
I may be missing something, but I'm pretty sure that I didn't call for a tank nerf before Uprising 1.7. - Atiim

Honestly for Forge Gunning I prefer the Gal Sent, two high slots for D-Mods are enough, any more then 2 and you face ridiculous efficiency losses better spent on other things... And importantly they can stand up to enemy vehicle fire.
A Gal Sent has a higher EHP pool then a Cal Sent, and can take a direct hit from most Rail Guns and even some forges if set up correctly, due to the 15%DR versus Hybrid Rails canceling out the 10% bonus they have against armor.
Then again, the Cal Sent is nice versus people with no fluxes, or when you have a lot of cover and don't have a proper logi-bro.
