There has been no reply, and I've reached out for contact on social media to community team leaders but I haven't heard back from them either. I am working with Dami+ín Vila to release Capsule UI under the same non-commercial creative commons license. I've corresponded with Dami+ín and he's mentioned how CCP reached out to him and his [url=http://eve.damianvila.com/fonts.htm]Dami+ín Vila]EVE Alpha Font[/ulr] for use in web projects. I've stated that I want this typeface project to be used for community tools such as protofits.com to increase a sense of verisimilitude between the tools and game that players interact with. While I am within my rights under U.S. copyright precedent (yes, I made this typeface and font in US, before I traveled to South Korea. The font code log is timestamped.) to re-release the recreated vectored font and typeface, I don't want to lose my account over this matter per any stipulation in the EULA I agreed to when I joined Dust 514. To reiterate, I am not releasing an extracted file of the EVEsans font from the EVE Online client. It's not specifically a Dust 514 font. This is modeled after the same User Interface type that is used in Eve Online. CCP Games did not model this font in house but instead contracted a graphic design typographer to design what is called EVE Sans. I do not know who this person is, but they have a contractual agreement with the artist in Iceland. Primary concern is that releasing my recreation violates that agreement between the artist and CCP. However, typeface copyright is handled and protected differently in the US since the 70s. The typeface itself is considered a utility which cannot be copyright under most circumstances except when the characters and colors themselves are indicative of a trademarked logo or the recreation is used in a for-profit commercial setting. The font, on the other hand is a copyrightable property because it is the computer code which dictates typeface kerning and general arrangement on your screen or printed media surface. What I have done with Capsule UI is create new vectors of the typeface and build new font code from scratch. You can see there are subtle difference between the two in this screenshot comparison. Caspule UI is on top and EVE Sans below. Further Concern might be that my typeface and font might be used to forge screenshots or impersonate other players. This is an understandable concern, but can be mitigated with understanding of exif data and image compression which sites such at http://fotoforensics.com/ can illuminate. Additionaly, Capsule UI is designed for establishing verisimilitude between CCP games products and 3rd party community tools like protofits.com/, yet Capsule UI is intentionally not designed with 1-to-1 accuracy to EVE Sans. If someone wanted to forge a document they would have better success extracting the EVE Sans font file from the EVE Online client. Try the new Planetary Conquest Mode!
