Pretty much this. Delta hasn't stopped missile turrets from stomping infantry, it just handed more easy WP to anybody with a swarm launcher. It has made stomong undefended infantry the only task left for dropships.
Give regular infantry the ability to damage Dropships. Anybody flying close enough to a group of them ought to take some serious damage.
Swarms can be toned down for the mediums suits sake, and only reward use through specialization. Swarms get the damage WP and still will do much more damage than a light weapon, but 4 or 4 guys with light weapons opening up on you ship should give one some cause for concern.
Infantry can shoot back and defend themselves. They dont have to "sacrifice" so much to use an AV suit. Picking on defensless troops would become more tricky.I was thinking something along the lines of the nova knife 50% efficacy against Dropships.
Just a rough idea, any thoughts?

My idea was not on the scale of light weapons replacing AV, just hirt enough to give a pilot some pause for thought but not enough to kill. But yeah, not the best way to go about it seing how damage is applied in dust, vs shields would hurt the caldari ships more than the gallente. Too tricky to balance, and would hurt more that it would help i suppose.
