Luna McDuffing wrote:I've been having a bad week killing wise (or is it dying wise?) so, I said to my self, the heck with this. Lets try a different approach. I also want to build ISK so, I decided to build a hacking suit. So, I will put some limitations and you guys can pass judgement or opinion on what a good build would be GIVEN the following limitations. Again, this discussion is for fun and for the challenge of it so stick to the limitations.
The limitations are: #1 It has to be a basic minmatar scout suit. #2 It has to have at least a basic drop link. #3 Cost cannot exceed 25,000 isk. (absolute max)
Any weapon or modules after that is fair game. I would prefer to have at least the basic clocking device but, I'll leave it up to you guys. Turns out some people don't use it at all.
Ok, so what is the purpose of this suit? #1 infiltrate and hack an objective. Then get out #2 be able to move troops forward by strategically placing drop links. #3 Kill at least 1 target of opportunity. This is a SECONDARY goal. As it turns out some people like to guard the objectives so sometimes we need to remove that one obstacle. The idea here is that if you do not need to engage an enemy then don't.
One more thing. Assume all skill are maxed. Mine aren't but, just to make things easier.
So given that your answer is?
Here is what I have been using for the sidearm event. Total cost I think is about 6k, with the exception of my hack suit which is about 15k ( I think? I don't have my PS in front of me to confirm)
M-1 Suit dual mlt flaylock HS: militia recharger + militial sheild extender (you can swap this out for another militia recharger) LS : militia shield regulator + militia armor repair Militia Nanohive .
This suit benefits from being able to self heal , assuming you use the terrain and cover effectively. Nanohive is required due to the lack of ammo the militia flaylocks carry (I currently have a max of 16 per flaylock on the militia). You will at some point run low, and the nanohive will help you when your not around a Supply Depot. It also helps making a quick +10 WP whenever a teammate is nearby and needs to replenish.
Hack Suit
M-1 dual militia flaylock HS Milita Sheild LS - two complex codebreakers
I cannot remember if I can fit the R-9 uplink on this suit - I think you can, but I don't have my playstation on right now to verify
With this hack suit, your going to die, often . Do not engage in fights unless you have to. Your goal with this suit is the quick hack and with any luck, be able to get outta the area quickly. Its very effective on Domination boards, as you can hack the point in 2.5 seconds, which might seem like an eternity, but you will be surprised how long it takes for your enemies to reach you to stop you. With practice , you will know when you can successfully hack right in front of them. (Just make sure you have some teammates distracting them) I have gone 2 -16 using this suit and still made over 250k isk due to the multiple hacks + uplinks. It will force your opponents to group 4 or more people around the point, allowing your team to either 1) mow them down due to their close proximity or 2) take other objectives without any opposition.
The "big " negatives In both cases, you will be seen by any scout with precision dampeners, or any Cal or Ammar scouts. You will die to basically anything with long range rifles. Due to only using flaylocks, Heavys are very difficult to kill.
The "big" positives You can die a crapload and still make isk. You can kill effectively with the flaylocks once you get used to using them. While out in the open, they are a bit difficult to use, in an enclosed area, they are VERY lethal. My best kill - Killing 4 people (4th was laying down something....mine or uplink) attempting to hack 'A' in the City Map (Gallante Research Facility? I forget the name) , using 6 shots from both flaylocks.
Because your a Min Scout - you have decent hack speed even without the codebreakers, thus you can hack with the 1st suit effectively.
Again - you will die. Often.
Accept that - Accept that you are going to die. Accept that your going to die, but also make it a point to take the other guy down with you if you can. Eventually ,with enough experience - it will be just you standing over the dead carcus of your enemy, and after a few seconds, you will be back to full health and armor, ready to take on the next target. |
