I'm not sure if somebody else has brought this up in the past but here we go.
I'm sure I'm not the only one but if any of you remember playing Battlefield 2142, you have probably played a titan match.
I was informed by other forum members that CCP is not doing any client-side updates yet. This idea is for the future.
What if we can attack the opposing team's mobile command center from the inside? I think it would I add a whole new element to the game. When the shields go down, make it to where we can get inside and blow it up from the inside faster.
I would like to know what the community thinks of this idea. They wouldn't need to add any new vehicles for this because we already have drop ships. Take the timer up and the clones up. |

I remember well the Titan mode of 2142 and it made for some of my most memorable battles in all FPS games ever. (I loved that game I always go on about 2142 lol)
Dust is very similar in many ways and it even does a lot better than 2142 did in some areas (Other areas it could take from and build up its own version)
Take for example the Titan mode you mentioned, its like we are SO close to already having that in dust. The ability to storm onto the enemy MCC to fight inside and try and hack / blow up a generator or something would be so epic!

You should actually take a good look at how small the MCC really is.

An idea like this appeals to me particularly because it could be an avenue to end an overwhelmingly one-sided match quickly, rather than making it drag on for no good reason.

This. The MCCs in Dust are too small. The main room from which we all drop is hardly big enough to hold half our team.

Not to hijack this thread or anything, but since you brought up the topic of skirmish modes here is a video of Dust back in 2012.
http://youtu.be/LVZILONI45U
This is famously known by every closed beta veteran as Skirmish 1.0. This is the very first iteration of skirmish.
The idea of the Titan match reminds me of exactly this in which the defending team must hold back the advancing team long enough for either the MCC to retreat or be destroyed. The advancing team in the mean time does what it can ensure the MCC docks up over the city before its armor is breached.
I would like to see this mode come back, but it depends on the following.
1. Is Skirmish 1.0 still coded into the game but its switched off? 2. Is Skirmish 1.0 no longer coded into the game and requires a client-side update?
Even if former is true, there is still some issues. For example, Line Harvest will likely be the only available map for the game mode since that was the only map presently available at the time after the original map with the plateaus was removed. There is also the issue with the Null Cannons. Back in the old days, Null Cannons fired missiles that climbed upwards and then laterally towards the MCC after climbing to a certain height. In today's Dust client, the Null Cannons fire missiles all the way up and disappear into the sky and then reappear somewhere above the MCC on their way down. There is no telling what effect that will have on a moving MCC or is the missile's path can be adjusted on the fly. If you want Skirmish 1.0 to be switched on, it will likely require a client-side update anyways to clear up any major bugs that come with it.
