Also I find it depends a lot on the map. Some maps / areas really don't cater to the LR`s long range. I still love it though, even if I dont use it nearly as much as back in chromosome. Mmm
The maps themselves cater to vehicles being able to 'somewhat' get near all objectives, which means anyone willing to throw down a few weeks worth of SP gain can get themselves a vehicle that will make long range battles difficult to engage in, closing the gap safely between CQC and Long Range.
It's my opinion lasers should get a special weapon damage, enabling 200% damage increase towards shields, but at a equally reduced against armor.
As it stands, the mechanics of this game do not support any type of weapon who can't engage up close. Then give the Laser a meaning, support fire/vehicle shield shredder. It would at least give Commandos a reason to use it. |

It would at least give Commandos a reason to use it. yes lets turn it into a weapon that wont ever kill anything, for it to be useful on the commando past std vs the assault it would need the same heat bonus Consider game mechanics and other weapons, lazors have no place, RR or Sniper will both do it better, more reliably, without much thought involved and without revealing location.
RR is range DPS - Sniper is the one hit wonder range - Laser doesn't even make sense. Charge up the shot by making it fire constantly to build up heat - yet fire too long the weapon over-heats. We had OP lasers before - no range DPS should out DPS CQC weapons for a reason.
There's just no real way to balance lasers in this game. The best you can hope for is give them a niche/AV role so people will at least use them a support weapon. |
