I wonGÇÖt stay too long on the point that a Dropship driver CAN tuck between buildings/structures and hide better than a heavy vehicle (one of the differences between a SKILLED DS operator and just a bragging GÇ£pilotGÇ¥ )... CCP has mentioned repeatedly that they donGÇÖt like what happened to HAVGÇÖs hard-to-correct speed glitch,.. theyGÇÖve said it many times.
If they are planning to reduce the armour penalty for vehicles, it may be in conjunction with finally reducing the HAVGÇÖs native speed, and they just havenGÇÖt discussed it out loud. In spite of the players who love to exploit a game-glitch, I think many of us feel the solution HAS to involve a return to a slow HAV groundspeed. A GÇ£proper, fun in the matchesGÇ¥ HAV would: -- have just enough slow speed to make the driverGÇÖs nervousness go up when GÇ£advancing down that innocent-looking roadGÇ¥, --make fleeing difficult when under attack, and --encourage shield/armour stacking as a way to steadily guarantee successful escape/ducking when choosing to shoot it out with an opponent.
The same way a DS or LAV is a very limited tool when I stubbornly operate it solo, the HAV should have limited effectiveness when you choose to drive it out of the garage lone-wolf and are only acting as a mechanized sniper or drive-by hoodlum. Like the cloak-shotty, these players SHOULD be permitted to have fun using these vehicles that way if they want, but be handicapped enough by the vehicleGÇÖs shortcomings that they have to rely on deeper interaction with their team if they want to consistently affect the red teamGÇÖs gameplay.
The combo of GÇ£returning the oleGÇÖ HAV slownessGÇ¥ + the offer to increase your hull strength without further loss of speed... would be a nice step in the right direction.
I really LIKED having HAVGÇÖs on the battlefield in the past, scaring and killing me around the next corner,... but in their old slow version, not this famous Tommy-the-Tank version.
Universe of good wishes for the 49, especially CCP Eterne...
