I developed this idea on my alt Blueprint For Murder and wanted to share it in general so I could get some feedback:
Advanced Heavy Weaponry
HMG: Lazer HMG
Model: Forge Gun
Over heat damage on progression and regression of heat build up; the damage would need to be progressive i.e. you would take more damage on the cool down than the heat build up.
The dispersion of the weapon needs to be regressive i.e. more focused the longer it is fired (Temptation); this should also dictate its range meaning the effective range of the weapon also increases with the heat build up. This gives the weapon an inherent charge up time as for the first few seconds your weapon will not be hitting anything directly in front of you.
Damage increases with heat build up.
Very large clip size more than 3x enough to kill yourself. (I don't want any reloads saving foolish players)
Medium to short reload time.
No recoil - but the weapon doesn't really get started until you are already taking damage.
If you guys go with scrambler projectiles : scram pistol sound - laser over heat sound
If you guys could use beams(epic): laser - laser over heat sounds
OooOO multiple beams all connecting into one would be so epic my enemies would look upon my awestruck corpse if they lived to. Red lasers possible?
This would open up the possibility of a glassy assault tank.
Skills: It would need its own tree in heavy weapons so new players could kill themselves: Lets call it advanced heavy weaponry: Plus 5% heat build up per lv Branches:1 Exhaust Systems: minus 2% overheat damage per level Advanced heavy weaponry proficiency: 3% shield damage per level Advanced heavy weapon sharpshooter: 2% per level Branches 2-3: Advanced heavy weaponry optimization x2
Extra points? Does that mean there is a prize? If so I will take my three million skill points now and when you make the weapon you can send me a bpo of it named of course "Blueprint For Murder" with red lazers

I was thinking that if this weapon was made it would make shield tanks a premium with this weapon since shield hp is much faster regain.

I cleaned it up a bit m8. If it is still hard to understand it may be your imagination... it is just a concept. I do however get ahead of myself at times, and it was indeed messy without the context presented in the other thread anyone could have had trouble with it. Do tell me what you think and thanks for the feedback.

I was thinking about this more and issues that could possibly arise by say 5 rep tools healing this user making him a murder machine. I think to balance this possibility they could add a critical mass or possibly heat radiation dmg that would tick on friendly units.

This was thought up when we were under the constraints of no new client updates which is the reason for all of the reused assets. I find this to be both a somewhat original and fun idea for an Amarr heavy weapon also the added value to shield tankers is a plus for balance. The weapon would be middle of road weapon that could be use as both AV and AI of course it would require support to use efficiently.

The way it is imagined this would not really be an issue because the offensive window would be so short, and require recovery each time used. If you had enough rep tools on you may be able to use it in that respect, but even then the regressive dispersion gives anyone enough time to kill the user before they would be able to attack again.
If they used lasers which I would hope it would also pretty much insta ping you to anyone in line of sight.

In this vision if they did in fact use lasers I would describe the dispersion as a logarithmic spiral where the most focused point gave the weapon its lethality. After a little bit of reading I came across a phrase that I thought would make a great name Spira mirabilis, "the marvelous spiral".

Since the overheat damage would continue through heat built up and cool down I thought that it would be cool if the lasers animation would unwind during cool down.

^ this way the user would have visual ques for how long they would be taking damage without having to look at their heat bar.
