I've was doing really well for the last two weeks up until last nigh where i got my azz handed to me on every battle. So, I decided to dust up the scrambler rifle and give that a go. It went pretty well. Unfortunately my wife came home and said, It's my turn to play so, I only got to used it in one battle. I got to thinking, well, I would like to experiment more with this gun but, how do I fit my suit to take the most advantage for it. So, here is where you guys come in. ofcourse, I'm going to set up some limits. But, firts
Here is what i have: 1) Scrambler rifle proficiency level 3 2) caldari scout level 5. 3) all other skills in drop-suit tree is level 5 except for the hand held scanner (lev 4), cpu (lev 4) and cloaking device (lev 3).
The limit for this excercise are: 1 )it has to be the advance caldari scout (proto is too damn expensive at least for my skill level). 2) advance scrambler rifle but, I suppose it can be a basic one. Any variant is fine. 3) basic or advnace cloaking device.

anyways, I think you should run this:
Adv Cal Scout
Your choice of scrambler rifle (put preferably the assault varient).
High slot Advanced precision enhancers x3.
Low Slot Advanced Range Amplifier x2
Equipment Cloak, standard (I don't know if you can run anything higher cpu/pg wise, I didn't run this through proto fits).
If you can fit it, put in a good side arm like the bolt pistol and/ or nanohives to keep you going.
*edit, I'm a scrub, so take this fitting with some healthy skepticism. Also, if you can fit it, always try to run complex over advanced, but sometimes I don't think the increase in price justify the percentage increase. so adjust as you see fit.

Go. First of all, I wouldn't put a Scrambler Rifle on a Caldari Scout. Second, if I'm tight on money, I'd use the STD Scout (although, I use them anyways because #HipsterStatus). Third, I wouldn't use a cloak. The only one that's remotely good is the prototype one, and it's not worth all the CPU and PG it takes up. Fourth, I don't know what type of scout you want. Tank, EWAR, Biotics, etc. 5th, you mentioned your Dropsuit Upgrade tree, but not Weaponry. 6th, if you run light weapons on your scout, you probably wouldn't like my Caldari fit since it only uses sidearms.
Good luck, though. |

This is a joke fit, right? The assault Scr. Rifle took a hit. No Shield Ext., energizers, rechargers? A regular scr.r will overheat and kill what shields you do have. Doesn't Cal. Scouts have precision bonus anyways? Maybe 1 complex precision enhancer, rest for shields. Maybe a damp and a reactive plate. RS90 or Bk42 |

@Vala II
oh, I don't use scrambler rifles and had no idea the assault version got nerfed. that kind of sucks.
Anyways, this isn't a good fit because I still don't know everything about dust, but I didn't bother putting energizers or rechargers because the Cal Scout already has good shield reps. In the time it takes to duck and reload, you already have your shields coming back.
But I do like your suggestion of having 1 complex precision enhancer and the rest shields.
Cal Scout doesn't get a precision bonus, but it does get a range bonus. So if you start putting on range amplifiers it really starts adding up, especially if you have Cal Scout at lvl 5 and Range Amp at lvl 5.

The caldari scout does not go well with amarr weapons. Try using a combat rifle or maybe an assault rifle if you're feeling adventurous. I went 23/10 with a GEK-38 on my Scout C/1-series, And 42/6 with a Proto Calscout and a Duvolle. Works best with a scrambler pistol or smg to compliment it.

So, you believe in procreation...
Need I remind you that there are these things that fall under a category called "birth control." It allows sex without procreation. Unless, of course, you actually believe in procreation, and as such, want multiple children instead of just sex. But given that your girlfriend is not financially secure unto herself, actual procreation would be ill-advised. Unless, of course, you are willing to take on the financial burden of bringing forth offspring, in addition to paying for the girlfriends education.
Anyway, equipping a rifle on a scout, like a scrambler rifle, is "wrong." Use knives and other sidearms, or a shotgun. Well, anything other than "easy mode" rifles. But if you insist upon a scramber rifle (non-assault), then you need dampeners/range amp (to keep off peoples radar and see farther to complement your weapons range), as well as two complex shield extenders (in-case the people you are shooting at get to shoot back) and a damage mod (Scrambler rifle is like an alpha weapon, you want to maximise damage, especially vs. armour). At least, that is what I would use.

Not sure if you are able to fit all that, adjust accordingly. Anyway, with this fit you can see most of your enemies and your scan radius is fairly large. Sure you may have low HP but that will be problem only if enemy sees you first. Personally I dislike the cloak and won't use it, but with few adjustments you should be able to fit it. |

I didn't know anything about Alpha Weapons, its nice to know.
I used a Militia ScR on a battle and it went really nice, so i got it to level 3 and i use the advanced version. it wasnt that good. But now that you got it level 3 too i may tell you a nice Suit Fitting, hope you like it.
Scout C1-Series
3 Advanced Precision Enhancer 2 Enhanced Range Amplifier
Advanced SrC Masec
Flux
RE Cloak.
And my gameplay is based on seeing people from far away, charge the ScR and shot them to death. Now that i know about the Alpha Weapons i would change the 3 Precision for 3 Damage Mods. The problem is that you wont see other scouts and they are the easiest to kill. |

To be completely honest OP i would fore go the cloak all together. Its an unecessary piece of gear only really utilized by unexperienced scouts. You can do well enough as a scout without the cloak just replace them with a good dampener or two (depending on the tier) and you wont be seen unless you are running around like a fool right in front of the enemy. Use tactics and strategy and the scout suit becomes a great tool on the battle field without the use of a cloak. And by removing the cloak from the equation your making more room for other things you may want on the suit (since the cloak uses up alot of PG and CPU)

Hi, I'm somehow new to scout and i understand what you say about cloak but maybe am not good in games that I'm always seen before i can get a shoot without the cloak just because people has manage to cover themselves from them. They are always looking, giving turns and stuff but while i wear the cloak i can stay quiet and be somehow invisible.
I'm not saying it's not doable, i have seen people doing it, its just not for me, i'm so noob to fps but i enjoy playing like this or with my Logistic |

But, in my opinion, if you rely on crutches available in this game you wont ever get any better. Look at your radar when you get close to enemies and you will see that it tells you which direction they are face giving you the opportunity to attack from behind. You gotta be quick and fast as well as a scout so decking out your suit with armor plates (ferroscale is ok) is a bad idea simply because they slow you down. I know people like to brick tank their scouts i just find it to be more of a crutch. I can literally go 20/0 in a scout suit without a cloak in a basic scout suit (dragonfly is awesome) fit thats specially made to my play style. Thats another thing getting advice from people on how you should fit your suit is fine but dont rely on just that alone. You need to be able to decern for yourself what works best for you then put that particular thing into play to better your character. Test out different fits and see what works best. And dont be afraid to spec into different skills that you want to try out. You may not get those skills back but i can guarantee that at some point in your dust career you will use those skills for at least one thing or another later on.

I have made many characters and i like the scout because it make an FPS a little bit different to what i was used to. (i used to play Halo 1) and as you say, play what works for me and for now i'm very happy playing caldari scout and cloack, i still being seen even with that but much less than without it. Try this (I'm not sure it fits at all though because the SCR is hard on PG):
2 x Complex Shield Extenders 1 x Complex Precision Enhancer CRW Scrambler Whatever standard sidearm you want 1 x Complex Dampener 1 x Complex Reactive Plate (You're probably running solo and that 3 reps/sec helps out a lot) 1 x STD Cloak (you want to pick your fights carefully with the scrambler on a scout suit.) 1 x Compact Nanohive (or a K-2) 1 x Flux Grenade (just because)
If fitting this is impossible, downgrade one of the shield extenders to advanced. You won't take much of a HP hit.
Or you could forgo the scrambler scout all together and skill into the Amarr assault.

I gave it a try last night with the setup described above. Lets call that experiment #1. That setup worked as intended. You can see everybody (except well dampened scouts) a mile away. I was actually surprised as to how far away you can see. i remember one time detecting an enemy o the radar. i went after him but, I couldn't find him even though the radar said he was in front of me. Turns out he was very far ahead hiding behind a box. Anyways, as long as the enemy was far away you are very deadly. The fit was very effective ad mid range too but, you have to be quicker and decisive on the trigger. What kills this weapon is the overheating so, I could take 1 charged shot then let it cool down for a second and then follow it up with a couple of regular shots. For the most part that was more than enough. However, if the enemy started to close the distance then that became a problem. With this gun you have to make every shot count and as long as you do that you have a very nice long range shotgun. However, if you need to start dodging and weaving then you are in for a hard time again, because of the over heating. Also, this setup has a very low HP so if a scout sneaks under your radar or you get surrounded by various enemies (For some reason i always end up in this scenarios where I'm surrounded by 4 or more people) then you are in for a world of hurt. In short this fit:
The good: 1) good fit for long range fighting 2) good if you can surprise the enemy and get the first hot
the bad: 1) requires trigger discipline 2) you have to be super careful in close quarter combat.
Note that some of my shortcoming during this test are probably due to the lack of practice using this particular gun and adjusting to the play style. I'll try Blunt Puffing set up at a later time to see how that one goes. |

I only use a cloak on a map with alot of open spaces.
