The goal to my proposal is to make Basic suits a viable option instead of the joke that they are now.
My proposal is that Basics should be equally good at doing Logi stuff as doing Assault stuff but each considerably worse than the specialized suits, creating a nice little niche of their own.
This includes giving them a 2nd equipment slot.
*ducks* I know... I know... but hear me out.
(The rest is all based on the Gallente Medium suits.)
They don't actually need too much of a buff. My proposal is:
- +~10% CPU/PG ---> Still worse than Assault/Logi, but not as limiting as it is right now.
- +~5% total HP ---> Placing Basics right in the middle between Assaults and Logis.
- High/Low slots should be one less than Assaults.
- 2 equipment slots.
- Why should I then spec into Assault/Logi?!
The basic suits would be still much worse at doing either assaulting or being a logibro.
You have less base HP, less room to fit modules, less CPU/PG, and you don't get all the nice fitting and weapon handling bonuses the Assault suits get.
You have less equipment slots, less room to fit modules, less CPU/PG, and you don't get all the nice fitting and equipment bonuses the logi suits get.

Change the price to half of what the bonus suits are. Then there will be no need for bonuses to be added. They can stay as they are, but cost alot less.

What if basic suits got a 5%/level bonus to armor and shield HPs? This would give new players much needed survivability, not tie them to any particular weapon so they can experiment with different options. The specialized suits would still be better at their roles (we would need better Gallente and Caldari Assault bonuses though).
Best PvE idea ever!

a 5% buff be insanely op just think of an armored scout with an extra 50% ehp. Almost any perks would make them better than the specialist suits. Even worse a blanket buff that generalizes the classes. Price is a driving factor, but the changes I stated or ones like them will not be instated do to the need for testing. They may raise the prices of ads and tanks after they have found a nice balance but the rest will most likely stay low till legion.

Well, without the bonuses you won't be fitting a cloak and will be easy to spot and still have fewer HP's than a medium by a significant margin. I really don't see how that would be so dangerously OP. Also we're talking basic frames and you're talking about Scouts? Also where are you getting the 50% EHP from?

Leave em be, and change the price! Fixed! Drop the price as the value of the basic suit is lower. Why are we giving non bonus suits bonuses? Do we understand commerce in this game? The basic suit shouldn't cost as much as the suit full of bonuses. The suit with bonuses should cost substantially more due to benefits.
Is this really that hard to fix?

5% to shields and armor would come to 25% each = 50% and I don't currently run with a cloak and I am already op.
@brad : There are a lot of current price issues like a tank dropship or ads that cost less then my suits. I can only assume it is that way for testing sake.

Just for easy math assume we have a suit with 100 shields and 100 armor. That's a total of 200 EHP. Now if you have level 5 you'll get a 25% bonus to each, so that's an extra 25 shields and 25 armor. Now you have a suit with 125 shields and 125 armor for a total of 250 EHP, an extra 50 EHP. 50 EHP is 25% of 200, not 50%.

No changes aside from slot parity to their racial assault equivalent and their ISK cost being returned to its original value, about half what they are now. %Bonuses and the like are accessed by skilling more fully into the class and using the non-basic suit.

The problem is that when you spec into a suit skill you know what you want to get, therefore instead of using a basic frame lv 3 for example I could just get a lv 1 Logi which would still be vastly better. Just kill them off, imo the skill tree should have all the different suits in their race. E.g
Assault Caldari-> Logistics Scout Commando Sentinel
This means all the suits would be in one place, would encourage people to stay loyal to their race but still allow customisation. Could even add extra racial specific skills with high requirements to reward those who have stayed loyal to their race with all their suits |

I'd say give them the second equipment slot like you suggested, and a 5% per level bonus to total ammunition capacity. Then they would be a kind of unique suppression fit. Not enough slots and HP to be an Assault, and not enough EQ flexibility to be an effective Logi.

You have less equipment slots, less room to fit modules, less CPU/PG, and you don't get all the nice fitting and equipment bonuses the logi suits get. the equipment slot and EHP buff seems a good idea but the slot removal i disagree with as they get lower base ehp then assault anyway and no "bonuses" and lets take.. amarr suits..
basic std 2-2 adv 2-3 pro 3-4
assault std 1-3 adv 2-4 pro 3-5
at std level they seem balanced as both std suits have 4 slots and basic suits would ahve less ehp then assaults but a second equipment slot.. but that brings me onto another topic.. i feel logi need a little bit of a buff or people will just keep useing scout or "buffed medium basic" over actual logi suits if you buff the basics more then logi.. but i am not against the idea of buffing basic suits at all

I don't suggest giving them a second equipment slot. I also don't suggest they be eliminated either, I know that when I was a but a newscrub ( now I'm an OldScrub) and the only suit I had was my STD MinLogi there were many times where I would use the Min basic medium as a fill-in for my more expensive (at the time) logi. It was nice occasionally, as I was learning some of what went for the ins and outs of gameplay back then, to have a cheap alternative to my STARTER fits and my Logi.
