As it stands in Dust, you just join a que and get plopped into a match anywhere in new eden, with no choice as to where.
Here's how I see it could possibly work in Legion.
Player selects the matchmaker or 'public contract' option from the main menu, this opens up a new menu with different options available for filtering available contracts.
Players should be able to see all matches that are currently in progress, and all that are about to start, as well as how many players are in each match, with the option to choose to join a battle already in progress or to join the que for a battle that has not started yet.
Players should be able to filter the shown battles by choosing from the list of npc corporations who are issuing the contracts. Like, if a player only wants to play for Quafe, they should be able to uncheck all other corps and only check off Quafe to see the battles that they are involved in.
Other options could include selecting different regions in new eden, or even filtering out all npc sponsored matches in order to see player corporation sponsored matches.
Player corporations should be able to issue public contracts for other players to either attack/raid a rival player corporations district, or even attack/raid an NPC corporations district.
You might be worried that having so many options available to choose from, it might take a long time for enough people to fill up the que on a battle, but allow players to check off all the battles they wish to join from the list of available battles, while having the ability to highlight a few of those as their highest priority/prefered battles, the matchmaker checks if those battles have enough people qued to launch before say putting you into a match that you have selected but not selected as a priority.
I think this would be great for the immersion of the game, as I dont think mercinaries have no say in what contracts they accept, players should have some choice in the matter, and if the game is good enough then the number of players in the game wont be a problem to support such a mechanic. |
