Problem with that is, it is just going to further push those players toward a passive play style.
The ISK faucet needs to be turned up, I'd actually try 100% increase and work from there.

I honestly cant believe people were bothering to make alts just for the measly bit of isk, just then to recycle and start again. Like honestly? How much messing about must that have been just for a little isk?
If you are prepared to accept dying and losses, there are may many viable sub 20k fits that you can easily make isk with. If you are really struggling for isk, use a starter fit and hell dont even engage reds if you are really bad! You can run around hacking things for WP and do something sneaky for a few kills like hunting for snipers or something.

While I support your statement, lets be honest. Most proto players I see in pub matches are NOT good enough to sustain proto, many times they lose 2,3,4,5 suits in a match. That could be upwards of a million isk a time for 5 suits.
The difference is older players had many bonuses that others did not get. Asset removal gave us a lot of isk when beta ended. Then you have the whole year + of PC farming that made a certain group billions of isk each.
It is unfair to say to new players, "oh you cant support running proto unless you are god like", but these honestly average players can run proto forever because they had systems in place to make billions of isk passively.
Now honestly I say to new players to man up and use cheap gear and grind isk like I have over time. But that's not to say that the whole thing is fair because its not.

What confused you about my simple post?
If you die 5 times in a pub match, you are bad, and should feel as such. No wonder you can't afford all proto all the time.
Christ, I just sold all my ISK to someone in game, when I played yesterday, I made pure profit off of 10 matches. Ran proto all the time.
If you can't do that, then you are bad, and will always be a loser. CCP shouldn't prop you up just so you don't feel like the scrub you are.

If they cannot sustain running all proto all the time, then killing them will bring their proto days to an end.
Do you know who had real piles of ISK back in the day? Imps, Nyain, TP, AE. How many of those people are still playing? Maybe 50?
So why should CCP alter the economy for a small fraction of players whose overall affect on the game is neglible?
People like to blame someone else running proto for them dieing. It is a convenient excuse, and nothing more.

And most of them are absolutely horrible.
I make no secret that I think most of the people playing Dust are semi-********.
There is a reason why the old PC community was such a small group, there was only ever a tiny minority of decent players in this game.
Because they are bad, and refuse to accept that, why should CCP cater to them?

CCP keeping ISK tight forces scrubs to buy aurum to make up for their lack of ISK.

It seems pretty obvious.
I don't think CCP has catered to the elite on purpose. It's been their intention to help protect players from proto stomping, but in my opinion the stingy payouts only exacerbate the issue.

I hear that thrown around quite a bit. If that's true then it was a poor approach. I think AUR was always about getting things before you had the SP to utilize it.

Actually, by catering the game towards that incredibly small target of elite players you'll quickly end up with a dead game. What player is going to stick with a game where they're expected to die ten times a match and then pay them enough to cover the cost of three of those suits?

EVE Offline (Scroll down to the Red Graphs)
It is really hard to tell just how many art farmers there were as this is Thursday, and Thursday consistently has the least characters created of any day of the week.
I believe that people overestimated how many of the new characters being created each day where Alt farmers. From my experience there really are a lot of new players trying out the game.
Incidentally, you can really see the effects of Summer Vacation on the new character creation graph.

The game is already dead, and was so even when more than half the player base had endless ISK.
The game gives you more than enough ISK to put together perfectly competent standard suits. You want to roll in better gear all the time, either be a better player and lose less suits, or get out your credit card and buy some aurum.
Everything Dies wrote:General Mosquito wrote:CCP keeping ISK tight forces scrubs to buy aurum to make up for their lack of ISK. Good luck with that Pay-to-Win scheme. See how far that gets you...
You clearly don't know what pay-to-win is.
Remember when the Aurum light damage mods were half the fitting of the ISK variants? That was P2W. Same with all the other module variants that got pulled at the same time due to an uproar on the forums. I would link you to the posts, but since I biomassed GBN, I don't have an easy way to find them.
What you don't like is the idea of having to pay-to-play at an equal level to people who are better than you.
If you can't afford to run full proto, don't. It isn't rocket science.
In Eve, this is constantly reiterated as "Don't fly what you can't afford to lose". If your abilities do not allow you to run proto all the time, that is on you, not on CCP to give you enough ISK to equalize the playing field.
You would complain when a high sec exploration site doesn't give you enough ISK to buy a Titan.

If anyone's going broke that's been playing for more than a week, they should seriously re evaluate their load outs. It's not all that hard to make inexpensive but still decently competitive suits. People just need to pay more attention to cost vs. survivability, proto isn't always most bang for your buck mod wise and pretty much never as far as weapons go.
I think there would be much less of a problem with newberries running out of isk if they highlighted the economics a bit more during NPE
