Glad to say that the Hotfixes work and look like they may give us a good base for new content SOONtm This is good for the game, good for the players and good for CCP. But can they really fix Dust.. 0o?
- Balance - NO matter what balancing you do nothing changes that some mercs can one-man-army the enemy teams due to poor balancing and who gets the better side of map, you can't change this Some mercs have the genuine skill to go 20/0 or better in most games, 50/0 Vs MLT N00bs.
So what do we do then? nerf skill ?
Thats hardly an option unless you want the game to be NerfBat514, which is not an option. The answer is here among us since Delta deployed the question is will CCP Rattati act upon this chance?
-Militia Tier Servers- We have a full line of gear to use in them, and we all know it is a needed feature to retain some new players We could see this deploy by Echo if enough players step up and ask for it to be done... DO IT !!!
(I will stray for one moment- MLT frame-See MLT Matari BPO) If all MLT frames had crappy stats (oh, what luck! they do) it would be possible to add 2 EQ slots to All of the MLT Medium frames and then you have low module slots, low stats, 2EQ slots on all of them
Back on Track So the MLT server has an option for all roles to join in (with MLT gear) and enjoy a game Certain penalties must be used for the MLT server such as less ISK and maybe less SP This would discourage the cowards of our playerbase using it as a safe haven to farm MLT
So we have the tools to get this done. Can CCP clarify if this is going to be looked at??? And there is no use saying 'If, But, When, Maybe'' THIS IS NEEDED NOW !!!!! Or you run the risk of losing even more mercs as they stress at fighting proto every day they log in

Tell me, TheD1CK, what is it that you are trying to say? while my EURO friend is long winded i think he is looking for a gamemode where new players are safe from PROTO. Yes. (Note to self - don't attempt to start discussion on forum, it scares people)

DarthPlagueis TheWise wrote:No it needs to be Advanced gear and lower. The dust experience needs to have those people in basic/militia feel a sense of accomplishment by killing higher tiers. So in this case the only answer to that is having advanced gear.
It really doesn't teach the new player a lesson if you just restrict everything to militia. And my main problem with that is our suit bonuses will not carry over to militia suits. So it needs to be at least basic.
I just think advanced is much more fair, and it also puts more pressure on the players to skill their things up. Not to mention a "militia gear, everything's free to use with no skill mode" would DRASTICALLY hurt AUR sales.
The reason for MLT tier server is exactly that - Your suit bonus does not apply. This would be intended for new/poor/terribad mercs, not just a casual stomp in lower gear.
Most of the target players for a MLT server would be the guys who DO NOT have suits to apply bonuses to
So yes.. I see your point.. But this feature would be for mercs that NEED it, not just mercs who want it EZ

J4yne C0bb wrote:I like this idea, except I would prefer the gear cap at meta level 2, so most standard gear would be included, like the new Sever BPOs. But I would dig a militia only gear mode; gear capped matches would help close the SP gap between noobs and vets, making the NPE much more tolerable.
Exactly, while the basic gear would be a nice addition it just leaves an open invitation for L5 mercs to abuse it Even in an ALL-MLT set up there would be abuse, but the mercs would be confined to MLT tier items. Overall my proposition would be a never ending academy, where low skilled players can run low risk gear At the cost of receiving less reward for battles, which seems a fair trade off.
And another note .. this MLT server could be used AS the academy and this way the NPE is boosted As they would instantly be thrown against mercs that know how to game, but are limited to the same gear So rather than the strange desolate (farmed) Academy, new players would recieve a taste of what Dust can do.

See with basic being in the mix it becomes too easy, mercs would never leave the MLT server. Militia confines it as much as possible and restricts how much advantage high SP mercs could have
Yes the Laser would under perform on a MLT suit, but your targets would all be in MLT suits And I think mercs are mistaking this for a 'new' feature for Dust mercs (which it almost is) But the primary use of the MLT server should be seeing that the clones of tomorrow have time to adapt.
We will never retain players (with scrublic servers) and we will never balance the equipment in game via its performance in public servers which is where all this data is collected. MLT server would allow the low SP mercs to play without penalty (fighting a 50milSP merc) And that should be it's primary use..
Could a member of CCP comment if some form of 'restricted' server could be possible?? You are allowing your game to be wasted by having new mercs fight scrubs all day.. This takes away any NPE, and ruins battles for long term mercs by forcing us to fight battles where over have our team is derping in a MLT fit not contributing to the outcome

Dude Ill be frank. You are not going to get new content or new servers. But you know that. Even the BPO's are not NEW content they are simply old content re - added. New server dude?really?why would ccp put a new server on a game that isnt even being developed anymore?
We all know this but there are things your overlooking.
- This could be an altered Battle Academy (Nothing new just tailored)
- There will be content, though CCP are focused on getting the Greenlight for Legion and Dust development will stall up until that time, and until they have a 'balance' of current gear So this is not to say anytime soon, though you never know Rattati might be the change needed for CCP to get it done and create a gamemode where new mercs aren't forced to fight 'vets'
- So I ask for nothing new (CCP provided that with a line of MLT gear) What I am asking is that CCP use what they have to make the game enjoyable for the new players

RayRay James wrote:So you want a game company that is known and prides itself on throwing new players into the deep end of the pool without swimming lessons to go and make a new server just for militia players?
I'm sure they'll get right on that.
Well if they applied my idea (MLT server acts as academy) then that would be throwing n00bs into battles that could contain a variation of mercs from 500,000SP - 50million the one restriction being
MILITIA GEAR
And by CCP's current changes to Dust and in EVE they are showing signs of a company who have realized without a way to retain new mercs there is nothing left for them to develop.. So I think it would be a possibility for CCP to do this.. IF players convinced them it was needed
This thread is for the Blueberries, they don't use your forum they play your game, Although they may not use their voice they are as much a part of the playerbase As the mercs who 'warrior' here often.. It's overdue CCP did something to cater for them Rather than chasing the tears that fall onto their forum from the 'community'

'I'd be able to crush anyone with less SP' - This is why a Basic server wouldn't work. Cripples in need of crutches would flock to it in a frenzy of Get Good to farm low tier mercs
In a MLT only server, there would be no suit bonuses though weaponry bonuses would apply So there would be use for investment, and the 3 mil proto suit would be put on hold for the new merc. As it should be they could build their Cores up, decide a role and pick their weapon while they reach a level of SP suitable for fighting mercs on higher levels in public contracts
RayRay it is good to know where you would be if we had a MLT server, but thats OK It would be designed for new/poor/terribad mercs, So you'd fit right in

See that is the feedback that can help the game, thank you Vrain
I want battles to be enjoyable for all role and SP levels, the HTFU mentality can only do so much. I began in Closed Beta as one of the Blueberry cluster, learning your craft in New Eden without help Has to be one of the toughest gaming experiences out there (Reminds me of Dark Souls without guidance)
And yes, most of us had to do it, all the mercs after me had to do it... This changes nothing
The fact is we have a playerbase imo averaging 20mil SP and ranging to 60mil + Any new merc has to face up against that every game..... For What?? They learn very little in that setup, as all they see is overpowered setups they cannot achieve Until they dedicate time to the game (which they won't in this setup).
IF a MLT grade server was available.. WE ALL KNOW it would be abused by cowards. So wouldn't this be keeping the essence of New Eden ?? the n00bs would still be under threat But overall there is less incentive (ISK) for mercs to do so, and some naming and shaming would add a new layer of meta to separate the Fighters from the Farmers
I am well aware my proposal needs polishing but I think a large part of the community will agree
WE WANT TO PLAY DUST. THIS ALLOWS ALL MERCS TO ENJOY IT.
As Vrain points out, regardless of disputes or rivalries this playerbase IS a family albeit one of the most hateful, dysfunctional and mutated family in gaming, regardless WE must look after our family, the lack-wits and newcomers are part of that.

Mad Syringe wrote:I don't like this proposal, for two reasons.
First, one of the biggest assets of this game is the skilltree, and new players want to skill into shiny stuff. If these things become irrelevant for the only gamemode they can play, that would be a bummer.
Secondly, not the suits, but teamwork is op.
I would propose something different, make a new gamemode for everybody that has lesss then 10mil sp. These would be high sec battles and obviously much easier on the noobs. It would probably feel more like the beginning of this game (closed beta anybody) so that everybody can get used to the flow.
This gamemode would be available after academy, and until one hit's the skill cap (10mil might be too much on second thought).
After they graduated from high sec, they would be ready for the protobears (more or less).
In my proposal the only thing they miss is the Suit bonuses. All Weaponry and Upgrades skills would still apply so not irrelevant
While the 3 mil saving for a Proto suit can be delayed while they run test fits in a MLT server So the skills apply but they have some playtime before having to decide which large investment would be their own preference and could help in saving new mercs from bad choices..
