It will take some time for the thrill of the new gear access to settle down.
I appreciate what CCP has been able to do, (with the Uprising Patches and the Hotfixes both), to tackle the requests of players.
But that sensitive "zone", between CASUAL-player access and SEASONED-player access, is a zone that needs to maintain a certain amount of "Denied Access". And though it sounds unfair and prejudiced, it's really for the benefit of BOTH types of players.
Separate from the game mechanic of grinidng up to unlock Advance or Prototype versions of your gear/ guns, making ALL weapon types come in a "budget" (militia) version can create a real problem for the play environment. I think it's wrong if we make the Militia Market a very complete showcase of all Dust's weapons. We ought to keep the assortment a reflection of the ole-faithful (ergo less super-destructive) weapon types that players are used to seeing in other FPS games:
This reduces the kind of "I don't know what role to immitate" shock that some new players find disturbing.
This gives Casual players less "oops, I picked a complicated weapon" frustation, and let's them just be happy with the standard choices, kick back and have fun shooting stuff.
This helps persuade novice or casual players to commit more deeply into Dust in order to be introduced to "new modern-day weapons of a whole different killing-principle" (not just suped up "proto" versions of the stuff they've already tried in Battle Academy).
And helps curb every player's temptation to to buy 10 boxes of an budget-ICBM just to go postal on all the maps for day, or just "spam cuz now it's half-price off in Trader Jove's"!
There's a whole LORE connected with New Eden and its Militia past. Although it's just a made-up lore, it can actually be used to help form a buffer for us. Let's face it, there are lots of guns in this game that are safe for just New or Casual fun-shootin', but some of these weapons OUGHT to be responsibly bought for slapstick gameplay that focuses on controlling a map, or herding an enemy, coordinating blitzes, etc. Otherwise, they just get annoying and problematic. Through the Lore, we have a good excuse to withhold certain weapons from the Militia warehouse,... and perhaps keep the spamming restricted to the less-potent toys, like the mark-1 grenade, or the entry-level rail rifle,...
We really don't need to invite spamming from an entry-level Mass-Victim Chain Gun, or "budget-level -MZ-Nuclear-Annihalator". NO ONE every really needs to have a cheap NUKE on the marketplace.
Universe of good wishes for the 49, especially CCP Eterne...
No story can have life without writers and publishers.
