According to danthrax, NS doesn't talk too much so I'm not too sure that voice comms play a major role in their ability. In fact, I have a similar experience with S.A.I.U.K.I. in which I tagged along in their open squad slot for about 8 consecutive matches. About 6 of those matches were against Nyain San in Domination and we won about 4 of them. This was all done while the S.A.I.U.K.I. members ate their dinners, drank their beers, and most notably, stayed almost completely silent for the entirety of those games. Seriously, they were so quiet that I started to freak out at how coordinated they could play together, especially against the likes of Nyain San.
