 I'm considering spending my SP on some vehicle skills and was wondering about missile HAVs. I don't see that many around. I tend to gravitate to less common suits/weapons (like the LR). Are they fun? I was planning on going into vehicles once the Amarr stuff was released. I still hope CCP does this eventually, but I'm not expecting it anytime soon. This would be for having fun in Pubs btw, and not a serious shift in play style.

 Yup :D quite op against somas and much easier for taking out installations
 Can also take down enemies easy if you can get splash or hit near objects

 Why don't you see them as often? Is it just that they take a lot of SP to unlock the missiles?

 Also, they are the trickiest to run if on the tank they belong on (Gunnlogi). The missile turret reload changes will be interesting.

 Pretty damn fun, eats armor tanks alive and will even let you kill shield tanks if you use a damage amp and sneak up on them.
 A bit harder to use than a railgun against dropships, but can dish out a fatal amount of damage very quickly to them.
 The splash damage sets off REs on LAVs
  
 There's a trick to aiming them at infantry, once you get used to it its much more deadly than a railgun and is really good at killing players camping high ground. I even killed snipers and forge gunners sitting on top of the MCC in manus peak domination with a ST-201!
 
 For a while I was getting concerned they were completely overpowered, but all the experienced tankers coming out of the woodwork are showing me that I'm not the hot **** I thought I was... a well tanked shield tank (shield booster is especially bad for you) or fuel injected madrugar aware of your presence will still kill you while you're reloading

 As someone with more than 30million SP into vehicles, just don't.
 
 Better to invest it in dropsuit skills. CCP has no clue about how to make engaging vehicle gameplay.

I was just looking to mix things up a bit. I ran a couple of matches with the soma fit, noobing it up. Got a few kills, and got blown up a couple times. Overall it was pretty fun and a change of pace.
 
 What skills are critical to focus on early (I'm guessing shields, turret, and the module activation reduction one)?

 Personally I find you basic extension and regeneration.
 
 Then you cores that reduce the down time of modules and increase the duration of module activation time. Missile turret can wait especially if you grind out a few Caldari FW matches for the State AT-201's which require no skills to use.

 True... But a Complex-Fitted XT HAV can however with the right squad-mates, heavy abuse of the Tac-Net, and plain ol Superior Clone Genetics, take on and kill half a dozen to a dozen enemy HAVers, two-three at a time

 Missile tanks do take some skill to use.
 If that's okay, then they ARE more fun than other tanks.
 
 
 If you got lots of talent, then you might find they can be OP.
 Meaning, that adds some dull fun and adds the risk of incoming nerf.
