I just gotta say, you CPMs, you all SUCK! Because your main purpose is to voice our opinions and requests to the devs, and we are NOT asking for much, all it is, is just tell us if its happening or not. Fine we dont need details. But is the project still a go?? Will we be seeing something in the near future? Has the project been put on hold for now, and will be resumed sometime? Has it been cancelled?? Simple a$$ questions here.... |

We're doing that. We are telling the devs that. Like every day. The fact that you're not getting the result you want, is not proof we are not doing our jobs, because our jobs are to talk to CCP, not to you. We can't answer those questions for you. All we can do is tell CCP they need to answer those questions for you. And then it's up to them to actually do it.

But even if it weren't would it still be free to play on PC? and also why not just put everything from legion into dust instead of wasting all that money making another pointless game?
Dust 514 is not a failure they just need to focus all efforts on it, I believe it can be resurrected. And another thing get off the CPM's back there doing there best to do what we are asking, so many people play this game they can't answer everyone at once.

Oh I'm sure that's exactly what he meant. And it is his non-paying job, entirely to talk to CCP and not to you. You elected him to do whatever the hell he pleased and the only binding part of that agreement is what he does with CCP.
Now, if he wanted to get elected again he would probably be doing things in his power to keep the people happy... such as talking to them. As he has taken the position of being an ass (which I respect, actually) this is clearly not his desire.
If I were elected the absolute last thing I would do is go to this dumbass community for an opinion. I mean his is worse, but at least he guards it well. That's about half the battle. |

To be honest, the CPM are getting flack because of factors outside their control: Because they are under a binding Non Disclosure Agreement, they can't tell us; they can't spill the beans on CCP's project even if we or they want those beans spilled.
Basically, it's not CPM's fault they can't tell you what you want to know.

The inherent point, is that it is NOT within my power to tell you more things about Legion. Not only is it not my job, I'm legally forbidden from doing it. And yes, our job is primarily a one way communication, to take what we hear in the community, and talk to CCP about it.
I'm not really planning on running for reelection anyhow, provided at least one other CPM1 member is running next time around to carry through the body of experience.

Sorya I think that there is why you are fighting a losing a battle here. It would be better to say i have informed ccp for more information and leave at that. If cant/won't say then don't alude to it just flat out say don't no.
Not saying how to ur job as cpm but people are a lot more forgiving im all lines of life of the phrase "don't know".
But for real the community basicly assumes legion is dead at this point and I don't think the cpm acutal know anymore than us =ƒÿÉ

Probably not quite what you meant (I hope). Since I am supposedly good at explaining things, let me try to explain this one:
The CPM members are elected to LISTIN to the Players and TALK to the Devs. They are only responsible for ensuring information flows in one direction (from the players to the Devs).
As part of their listening duties the CPM may talk to players in order to elicit feedback on a specific subject or to get more context around player complaints so that they can LISTIN to that feedback and gain a greater understand of what they are hearing. That allows them to better explain the playerGÇÖs needs and concerns to the Devs.
As part of their talking duties the CPM may actually listen to the Devs in order to determine what the Devs plan to do, so that they can then provide informed feedback on what the Devs are planning on doing (tell Devs when a stupid idea is stupid).
So yes, the CPM do talk to players (about player concerns) and they do listen to Devs (about what the Devs are thinking about doing), but when it comes to the transfer of information the CPM is only responsible for ensuring that information travels from the Players to the Devs, not the other way around.
By default the CPM is not allowed to tell players anything now about what is happening in Development. They canGÇÖt comment until CCP announces something officially. They do however lobby heavily to get CCP to provide more information to the Players. If CCP decides not to provide information to the players it is not the CPMGÇÖs fault.

The question of the day is, would it be a violation of the NDA to tell us: a)Whether Legion is still being worked on? b)What level of effort is being put into Legion development? c)How many Devs are working on Legion?
It is clear that CCP do not want to tell us about what they are developing in Legion at this time. Hopefully that is because they want to dazzle us with their progress in the (hopefully near) future. However, maybe they could tell us about the effort they are putting into the development, even if they donGÇÖt want to tell us what they are actually doing.
Hand/Eye coordination cannot be taught. For everything else there is the Learning Coalition.

Hey Soraya I think you guys should publicise your Biomassed pod cast - youtube videos more man. Many things I didn't know about have been talked about during those podcasts and I noticed barely anyone even knows about them.
Sure some people dont care enough to sit through an hour of you guys chatting but I quite like having a listen while I eat dinner or do other things.
My point is I am sure the community would at least be happy to know that there are those podcasts to hear about your guys feelings on things and stuff you have been doing.

We often have at least one other CPM member on, though as I co-host of the show, I'm the one who's always on. Usually it's just discussion of recent announcements and upcoming hotfixes. The one thing I do mention on the show that we're doing a poor job of not also getting to the forums on text, is I note when we have meetings with CCP developers, although we obviously don't discuss or talk about the content of those meetings.

CCP Falcon and CCP LiLu were on talking about the recent summer summit. They just go on and on and on about being open with the player base. It made me sick.
I wish someone would kick down the door of whatever dungeon the Legion Devs are working in and place a stereo 10x louder than an ACDC concert and play CCP Falcon's comments on a loop all the way up to Eve Vegas. Perhaps by then they'll find a way use some form of communication to update the Dust/Legion playerbase.

Fox you are going about this the wrong way. Start a riot, give CCP some headlines then Hilmar can issue an "apology" and say they are going to keep the community up to date. Done. CCP gets their headlines, we get info, everyone is a winner.

Of all the words, it had to be one that was repeated and highlighted. When I training to be a Cartographer one of our major projects was to produce a Topographic map of a major city. One of my classmates spent 3 months on a map of IcelandGÇÖs capital city, and never noticed that he had spelt the name of the city wrong in the map tittle.

Sure some people dont care enough to sit through an hour of you guys chatting but I quite like having a listen while I eat dinner or do other things. My point is I am sure the community would at least be happy to know that there are those podcasts to hear about your guys feelings on things and stuff you have been doing.
The more I listen to those podcasts the more I feel I should have put Pokey as the first choice on my voting list rather than my 4th choice. That is my only real regret regarding the CPM1 election.

I'm really hoping Pokey runs again and gets a spot on CPM2. His boundless optimism might even survive a full term as CPM. Might.

Keep the forum open, but make use of it. If the truth is that Legion is under full development, with the majority of the dev team from Dust, then start sharing stuff with us.
There has been no official announcement of a green light but there are sticky threads from CCP Z, CCP Wolfman and CCP Ankou asking for feedback and sharing basic concepts for Legion. Some of them even have screenshots of the market menu. So obviously it is green lighted right?

Does anybody know how long it typically takes to take a development far enough for the publisher to greenlight it or drop it?
I mean, I think its a considerable investment to employ a whole studio so long without some promise of pay-off. How did they do it with WoD?

CSM, IMH&HO...CCP has not earned your adherance to the NDA. Yeah yeah, legal blah blah...I'll leave that to you to weigh for yourself. But if they don't want information flowing from you, then it should flow from them.

CPM. And the whole point of an NDA, is that they don't have to "earn adherence". They have it by nature of an ironclad legal contract. And as I work in the tech industry, where confidentiality is a huge requirement, breaking a legal NDA would affect my career.

Unless they fail to make proper hi-low-null sec areas. If they don't fail, then all the people starting the game will have hi/low areas to grind in while we'll be hunger gaming for supremacy in null sec. |
