THAT'S THE WHOLE POINT OF A SNIPER, TO BE AWAY IN AN AREA YOU CAN'T EASILY GET THEM AT. and the delta update looks nice, and maybe when it comes out I'll try it, and see how it affects the sniper gameplay, but until then I won't say anything about it because I won't know until Its actually out.
also, multiple fittings, if you don't like being shot by a sniper, try picking up your own and counter-sniping a sniper.

I'll explain what these good people are trying to tell you. The reason people hate on Redlining is because something should not only be countered by itself. You shouldn't have to pull out a sniper to kill a sniper. The point of this game is counters. Find a way to kill them before they kill you without resorting to the same tactics.
Think about this if you would for me. You are sitting there 400 meters away, 150 meters in the redline, and you pop a couple people off. They are out in the middle of the fray fighting, taking objectives, holding points, hacking, generally taking risks, etc. You are simply shooting from afar and, from the sounds of it, not hitting a whole lot. But, for the sake of argument, let's give you those two kills I just mentioned. Why should they be risking their ISK/Suits/etc when you are playing a low risk/high reward game? You feel like you are untouchable because no one can come up to you or sneak up on you. However, what in the grand scheme of the battle (especially Domination/Skirmish) are your 2 kills and 100 WP worth? Probably not a whole lot.
I've been sniping since open beta. Before I knew better, I used to redline snipe. Then I realized a couple of things. First, the vantage points sucked arse 99% of the time and the opportunities were too limited to do anything. For half the match, I would stand up just so the tacnet wouldn't expire because no one was in my field of vision. I realized by leaving the redline, I often found better vantage points on the ground that gave me a little nook or cranny to squat in and do serious damage from 150 - 200 meters. Closer in = better scope = bigger target = easier to hit. Plus, the thrill is there. If someone finds out where I'm at (considering they are told how far away you are and get a nice little direction splatter if you don't headshot), I better be ready to switch to second light weapon (I CalMando snipe normally). If I'm using my Cal Logi, I'm dead because there is no secondary weapon.
Oh, and sniping isn't as bad as you are saying. Go to youtube and watch a couple videos by Symbiotic Forks (not sure if it is one word or two). That is prove in front of you that it is not that broken. I'm nowhere near as good as him and I can still help my team. I was getting protostomped by Nyain San and some randoms earlier today. Finally, over halfway through the match, I said screw this and switched to Sniping. I killed 10 clones and only died once, adding in quite a few kill assists. For the record, I was under 250 meters away. There are matches when I've locked down a Domination Null Cannon for most of the match because I found a vantage point 150-200 meters away that looked into the hack module of the null cannon. Redberries go to hack, shoot them in the head. Their buddy comes up to revive him, shoot HIM in the head.
The key is finding a good location and being selective. If you are using a regular sniper rifle, don't go for the Amarr Sentinel with 1400 HP. Go for scouts and logis and assaults and commandos. Let the HMGs and Nova Knives deal with the heavies for you.
