One thing DUST is missing from EVE is resistance modules. We should have modules that resist damage from specific damage types for both shield and armor. This would allow players to better adapt to shifting FOTM metas, by allowing suits to counter specific damage types, and would greatly help with the nerf/buff mentality. They should be percentage-based so stacking penalties should apply. I think reasonable values might be 8%, 12%, and 15% resistances to Laser, Plasma, Rail, Projectile, or explosive.
Not only would this give significant fitting variety, it would allow players to counter specific threats, while leaving them more exposed to every other damage type. I think these probably could be hotfixed in, since they're kind of like adding a variant, and the code for resistances already exists (sentinels have them). Thoughts?

It's playing with fire....but I really like this idea. Numbers are probably too high though, and you should have to choose between shields and armor. Shield resistance = low slot, armor = high. I love the thought of a heavy being able to choose between a damage mod or an armor projectile dmg hardener. A cal sniper reinforcing his shields against countersniping rail. A logi giving his armor explosive resistance to try to survive the core locus. A gal assault opting for projectile resistance for CQC. |

Yes armor and shield would be separate modules. I realized my post was a bit unclear on that point. I was thinking these should compete with buffer modules (like in EVE), so armor in the lows and shield in the highs.

Basic Shield resistance +10% Armor resistance +10% Armor and shield resistance +5%
Adv Shield15% Armor15% Shield armor 8% , 8% or 7%, 7%
Proto Shield20% Armor20% Shield armor 10%, 10%
Something like that would be nice, of course I just used the first numbers that popped into mind which may not be suitable.

What about the fitting costs? Should these be easier or harder to fit than extenders/plates?
