Since the matchmaking change I seem to be in a disproportionate number of games with AFKers. For instance, here's a photo of the killboard of the last game I played. It was a very close game, we narrowly lost on MCC, were well ahead on clones and about 5 clones away from cloning them (top of board). There's no way they gave up due to getting facestomped, this is planned AFKing. It's frustrating to say the least that a third of our team didn't deploy, even one guy would probably have made the difference.
Has anyone else noticed an increase in AFK since the matchmaking change? If so, what do you think the reason is? I think the new matchmaker does incentivize AFKing, but I doubt that's behind it. Probably most players don't even know anything changed. So I'm wondering what's going on.

Maybe a squad left and they were put in last minute?
I just Spambush though, 95% off battles were epic yesterday  No AFKers either
I'm sticking with the thinking that CCP are putting AI in to afk to make up the numbers

looked like both sides 12-16 were afking so you were kind of evenly matched but no ive not noticed afkers lately. |

at least they did something. my local server was Oceania. whole teams would sit in the mcc never leaving it. for months the same players farmed isk and sp. |

Are you just noticing this more for some reason? Can't say I have noticed any sort of change. Then again I cant say I have noticed any sort of huge change with the matchmaking either but its still early days I guess.

I haven't noticed anyone AFK in Destiny...
It's really weird. It's almost like people actually have fun playing the game and acquiring their gear-based goals.
"Laser focused" on playing Destiny.

This has been an odd occurrence. It's not consistent for every match, but I've certainly run into this on occasion.
For example I've joined an Ambush match where 5 min into the match I see 5 blue dots on the overhead map at any given time and more than half the team sitting on the scoreboard at 0/0. At first I thought maybe they're just hanging out in the MCC, but truth be told none were deployed.
I'm glad this is being discussed and I'll watch Rattati's thread, thanks for sharing that. |
