Pretty short list right? hmmm... Grand total... 13.717.620 Mil SP personally i still have 5 mil to put into vehicle upgrades. So so far we are at a combined total of 21mil SP lol and that is assuming i dont want any turrets. Now lets go into turret upgrades -_-
Now i wont be going into Ammo or reload that much because us tankers are not insecure scrubs like that dude aittm and all you Hardcore "i wanna stomp milta all day" AVers out there.

S rail S missile S blaster
What does it take to unlock all this? 4,974,720 Thats just to get the turrets. Not counting the reloads fittings and Prof(which is turret rotation)
So what would it take to max all the turret rotation speeds? 9,327,600 mil SP and what about the reload skills? 5,596,200 Mil SP ammo capacity (which every AVer just cant play without) another 5,596,200 Mil SP.
Oh and then there is the matter of our fittings huh? oh well thats just 11,193,120 SP no big deal.
So to be a Max skill tanker it will take? A grand total of 50,405,460 Mil SP.
Am I saying I want tanks to be unstoppable. No what im saying If you don't have a single point in tanks and your just a killer. Don't be mad when someone gets on a point who wants to change the outcome of the game.
Your damn right im saying No one AVer no matter how much SP he put into his Craft should kill a tank in 4 volleys by himself. Its your fault you wanted to be a proto stomper now deal with it. So much as a basic rail tank can cause any ion cannon a problem.
Im not saying this to convince anyone on the forums because 90% of you that are on here are the ones that don't want your **** nerfed and will stay on here or hours to ensure it stays that way.
The simple fact of the matter is Tanks and ADS don't have any authority on this game anymore. Only the guys with Proto out **** hugging each other do and it needs to be fixed and if no one wants to fix it and 1 AVer is equal to 1 tank than the SP needs to be equal as well. Or just remove them rom the game like the proto stompers want to Rep tools and heavys are #1. There is no hiding or getting around those guys is there? Its already bad enough my tank is useless on most of the maps anyways.

SP/ISK are not balancing factors. By that logic my fully specced Logi should require a squad of MLT to take me down.
I see you also said you think tanks shouldn't be soloed, yet it's perfectly fine for you to run said tank solo? Teamwork for thee, no teamwork for me .

Personally I think the mindset that weapons specifically designed to destroy vehicles should be ineffective against them is pretty damn stupid.

all i use is swarms RE and ammo packs on minmatar assault or caldari scout.. obviously an SMG sidearm tho i think shayz cloak RE PLC hive scout seems to work great too

You're overstating your argument. You have LVL 3 and 5 skills in your AV plan, but EVERY. SINGLE. THING in vehicles to 5.
Sure, vehicle SP is intensive. It should be. A good tanker is driving around in a neigh unstoppable killing machine and ADS' rain missiles and rail bolts from the sky.
I have both, Proto fits for AV, Infantry and Vehicles and My tanks have proto larges, pro smalls and I'm about 200K from finishing off my last important vehicle skill. |

I'm finding AVing to be easy lately, honestly.
Let me bring up some points though:
AV
Pros: -Massive damage output potential, and sometimes can't be returned by the HAV -Can sit on inaccessible areas and suppress vehicles/keep Dropships from removing them from the perch Cons: -Restricts and/or removes anti-infantry potential, creating a distracted and poorly armed target for other infantry
HAV
Pros: -Massive damage/slaying potential, usually not answered immediately -Immunity to small arms fire, granting the ability of suppression Cons: -Expensive(ish) -Immobile, can't go everywhere
However, keep this in mind: AV is specifically intended just for destroying vehicles. It should succeed at it's job to some degree, right? Plus vehicles can kill anything they want. Hate to be biased, but I'd rather the infantry be dominant over the giant metal slaying machine that's immune to bullets. This is coming from someone with plenty of experience on both sides.
P.S. Add damage mods to the AV list. Those are vital.

I don't usually get invested in these sorts of threads because they make my head hurt, but have any of you guys ever seen a tanker take a stab at responding to this argument?
In the AV vs V threads I've read, vehicle users harp on and on about how it should be borderline impossible for a solo player to kill them, and then when someone posts the whole "requiring teamwork and specialized weapons to kill one player, effectively reducing their numbers against enemy slayer infantry is stupid balance" argument, they pretend they missed the post, desperately try to change the subject, or stop posting in the thread entirely |

That's because logic hurts them badly.
There's a few good tankers who's main complaint is that tanks are boring. I can sympathize, you play a game to have fun not hit your head on the desk.
The bad tankers want an invulnerable IWIN butan that allows them to farm kills like a god-possessed combine harvester.

It should be very possible for a single (decently skilled) AVer to kill any vehicle, but it should not be easy or relatively. It should be easy, however, for a single AVer to threaten any vehicle and force it to either disengage or to immediately engage the AVer. A pilot should have enough time to decide whether to fight a single AVer or to try and escape with a reasonable chance to (most cases, sometimes you really do screw yourself). A single AVer should be a THREAT, but not necessarily a hard counter.
The overall goal for a solo AVer should not be vehicle kills but vehicle suppression (which is why you get +1-2x the SP for vehicle damage than destructions).
Currently that is the case with all AV (minus the PLC) against all vehicles (minus more or less a ++ber rep tanked Maddy), which is why I'm hesitant to accept AV buffs.

I think he meant "not equal but able to effectively combat"..... and that is essentially how it should be.
AV should be able to do their jobs, hit tanks hard with powerful weapons either to destroy or force them back off the field. Just like tanks should (but don't) carry this games largest cannons and launcher weapons and be able deploy that fire power against enemy vehicles or strong points.

The OP pretty much states that he thinks that One AV'er should not be able to kill one pilot and that SP/ISK investment should determine the outcome.
The mindset of this AV'er is that too often that this is the mindset of tankers even though both arguments have been discredited.

Pretty short list right? hmmm... Grand total... 13.717.620 Mil SP personally i still have 5 mil to put into vehicle upgrades. So so far we are at a combined total of 21mil SP lol and that is assuming i dont want any turrets. Now lets go into turret upgrades -_- Now i wont be going into Ammo or reload that much because us tankers are not insecure scrubs like that dude aittm and all you Hardcore "i wanna stomp milta all day" AVers out there. So what would it take to max all the turret rotation speeds? 9,327,600 mil SP and what about the reload skills? 5,596,200 Mil SP ammo capacity (which every AVer just cant play without) another 5,596,200 Mil SP. Oh and then there is the matter of our fittings huh? oh well thats just 11,193,120 SP no big deal. So to be a Max skill tanker it will take? A grand total of 50,405,460 Mil SP.Am I saying I want tanks to be unstoppable. No what im saying If you don't have a single point in tanks and your just a killer. Don't be mad when someone gets on a point who wants to change the outcome of the game. Your damn right im saying No one AVer no matter how much SP he put into his Craft should kill a tank in 4 volleys by himself. Its your fault you wanted to be a proto stomper now deal with it. So much as a basic rail tank can cause any ion cannon a problem. Im not saying this to convince anyone on the forums because 90% of you that are on here are the ones that don't want your **** nerfed and will stay on here or hours to ensure it stays that way. The simple fact of the matter is Tanks and ADS don't have any authority on this game anymore. Only the guys with Proto out **** hugging each other do and it needs to be fixed and if no one wants to fix it and 1 AVer is equal to 1 tank than the SP needs to be equal as well. Or just remove them rom the game like the proto stompers want to Rep tools and heavys are #1. There is no hiding or getting around those guys is there? You have listed a load of stuff that could not possibly be used at the same time (HAV and ADS; large blaster, large missile, and large rail, etc). The equivalent would be to list ALL infantry skills. That's going to cost a lot more than your paltry 50mil SP, it'll be well over 100mil. So all your argument does is show that it takes less SP to be a full skill vehicle user... |
