I loled at "mixed emotions" Yeah, I know that feeling. A combination of frustration and mad respect! I also have mixed emotions every time I get killed by remote explosives used as an offensive weapon, since I did write the Remote Explosive guide detailing how to do it. So you practically tasted your own medicine? Time and time again. The worst is the embarrassment I feel when I forget to check for remotes before hacking a point... Hardly anyone was doing it when I wrote the guide.
Strangely enough I don't see remotes on objectives as often as I use to. Even if they're there when I can't see them, I often manage to hack the objective with my Super-Fast-Hack Minscout before the user has time to detonate them.

Have you tried Sniping from the top of the MCC in a Sentinel suit with a Thales?

Nope. I tried sniping but I suck so badly. I kill players better when I'm up close and personal.

Even if they're there when I can't see them, I often manage to hack the objective with my Super-Fast-Hack Minscout before the user has time to detonate them. It goes in cycles. Remote users start putting remote explosives on Objectives and getting lots of kills. Then people wise up and start looking for remotes, or fluxing the terminal before hacking, so the Remote users stop getting kills from it.
So the Remote users start using the remotes elsewhere because they are not getting kills on the terminals. After a while people start to notice that they are not finding remotes on the terminals anymore so they lower their risk assessment. When they are in a hurry to hack they donGÇÖt bother checking for remotes, and the more times they get away with it the less they bother checking. That is sort of where we are right now.
Soon some Remote user will mine a terminal and will get some kills. Since it works the first time they will continue doing it. Then other Remote users will notice, and mining the terminals will becomes a thing again. And thus the cycle continues.
I am getting a lot of kills recently by mining Drop Uplinks since it has been a long time since placing remotes on Drop Uplinks has been GÇ£a thingGÇ¥.

Believe it or not, I have stabbed a few uplinks that were rigged with REs yet I didn't die from them. I'm not sure if it was glitch or something. But you could hear the RE explode in front of you when you stabbed it.

If that is hatemail, that is the mildest hatemail ever.
Maybe, if the merc was Canadian, it could be considered hatemail.
The only hatemail I ever received was from hacking a CRU that some blues were camping. I hate spawn camping...

This sniper happened to be one those thale's snipers that sit deep in the redline thinking no one will catch them. He thought wrong. I can sprint 11m/s or two football fields in 20 seconds. If he was able to be reached on foot in the 15 second kill timer, he was not "Deep" I will repeat. If the guy was really "Deep" in the redline, you could have solid Kin Kats, and the fastest scout suit, and still never reach them in time. I'm very bluntly saying, that you have no concept of depth here... you were clearly running into a "Shallow" redline.

When was the last time you spent dwelling inside the redberry-side of the redline? The redline timer is NOT 15 seconds. It's 20 seconds. Mathematically speaking, those 5 seconds make a difference.
Fastest suit in the game: Scout Mk.0 @ 11m/s assuming you fitted 3x complex kinetic catalyzers. Redline Timer: 20 seconds from the moment you cross the redline. Maximum Possible Distance Traveled into Redline: 220 meters or just over 2 football fields.
What does this mean?
It means that assuming I'm playing skirmish in the Manus Peak Map coming from the attacker side -- which is Northwest side -- with part of the edge of the enemy redline being at the middle of Grid K-7, I can sprint non-stop from that very edge to just under the enemy MCC which is on Grid L-9. If you have the suit and skills for it, try it yourself. You will be amazed how far deep into the redline you can go. I have scared a lot of players doing this.

Actually I wasn't paying attention the other day and ran a decent way into the redline, knifed a guy at a turret then a sniper about 10 yards away before realizing I was in the redline and didn't have enough time to run out. The death was worth it though. |
