Yeah, I know that feeling. A combination of frustration and mad respect!
I also have mixed emotions every time I get killed by remote explosives used as an offensive weapon, since I did write the Remote Explosive guide detailing how to do it.

Even I have gotten a Hate Mail. I put some Contact Grenades that came with a Merc Pack I had purchased on a Sniper fit (how often do Snipers us grenades anyway?) just to use them up and get them out of my inventory. I think I only killed the one guy with them, but he sent me mail saying I was a no skill scrub for using contact grenades. GÇ£No skillGÇ¥ and GÇ£scrubGÇ¥ are key words to look for when identifying Hate mail.
I think that was the only actually Hate mail I have gotten though. All the rest has been fan mail.

So you practically tasted your own medicine? 
Time and time again.  The worst is the embarrassment I feel when I forget to check for remotes before hacking a point... 
Hardly anyone was doing it when I wrote the guide.

Honestly, it is probably because of your DUST University tag. They think, "Oh, good for him!" 
And those that know that you are an Instructor level player, rather than a noob, also know what a nice guys you are. You are going to have to do something a lot more egregious to get hate mail.
Have you tried Sniping from the top of the MCC in a Sentinel suit with a Thales?

Soon some Remote user will mine a terminal and will get some kills. Since it works the first time they will continue doing it. Then other Remote users will notice, and mining the terminals will becomes a thing again. And thus the cycle continues.
I am getting a lot of kills recently by mining Drop Uplinks since it has been a long time since placing remotes on Drop Uplinks has been GÇ£a thingGÇ¥.

Even with all the setbacks and disappointments of pre Rattati DUST, listening to a Permaband song always reminds me that CCP is still a cool company.
