Deer is my favorite meat. I haven't eaten all the animals out there yet, but hopefully one day that'll change. People say elk is awesome too, but I live too far south to try. I also try to respect the animal as much as possible by utilizing as much of it as I can. Tanning hides, making knife handles and other tools from antlers and such. Can't let the old methods die. Survival knowledge is priceless! |

So I take it by eastern woodland you mean the Appalachians?
Yep GA, I played the hell out of far cry 3 cause it had a bow, never did play crysis 3.
If Dust had a bow, you know it would be OP! I didn't play it, but I remember reading crysis 3 bow users could stay cloaked and shoot cloaked. What a mess if that was true. |

Might be adrenaline, key is try not to get spotted, and let the animal wander off and die in peace. If it spots you and know its being preyed upon, fight or flight kicks in and hormones get pumped through the body and you can taste the difference. Water curing the meat helps flavor too, as well as removing all glands and lymph nodes. Buddy of mine never liked squirrel, said it tasted gamey. He never knew there were small glands in the armpit that was causing the odd taste.
Just realized there was a locker room section for off topic stuff, my bad |

I'm also vegetarian now so I'll not be killing and eating anything ever again unless my life depends on it.
I am not a veginaz1s though, in good time humans will make the change. There's no point hounding people lol.
I'v had veal as well aye, it was lush, and venison, game pie, pigeon, etv etc.
I like meat too much to go full vegetarian, guess you could call me "almost" vegan. I try to keep processed foods to a minimum and in a perfect world I would love to only eat what I can grow or hunt.
Also its a way to control animal population, all those deer running in front of cars would be much more prevalent if hunters weren't keeping populations down. Theres a documentary on netflix about the overpopulation of deer in new york that shows what happens when animal populations get out of control. Wish I could wake up to 20 deer in my front yard everyday.
We vacation at Jekyll Island quite a bit and you can walk right up to the deer there. This year though i read an article that they are paying the U.S. military sharpshooters to reduce the population. A lot of GA hunters wish they would just open it up for hunting instead of Paying military sharpshooter to perform deer genocide. I at least hope they are going to retrieve carcasses and use the meat but I doubt it. |

I don't enjoy the killing, I pray before and after a kill and respect the animal as much as I can by trying not to waste anything. It lives on through me in a way. Watch a documentary on animal farming and meat processing facilities. Sad, very sad where your food comes from and the treatment they endure. The animals I harvest lived a healthy natural life and were treated with respect even after death. Unless your 100% vegetarian, then I guess it doesn't apply |

Defenseless, a deer will tear you up if you corner it. |

At the airsoft site i go to, if you are caught shooting at any animals, you are stripped naked and tied up while everyone empties a whole hi cap mag into you (about 300 bb's) and then banned from every site in the uk lol. The guys who runs it are all ex army so there's no getting out of it if you are caught, you can try though lol.
I don't blame them. Shooting animals with airsoft or even weak bb guns is just cruel. All the pain and suffering and having to live through it all. |

I think I would be ok with catching and killing fish.
Not even that, if people knew where their food even came from they would prob turn vegetarian. There's a doc on netflix about eating vegan, and they show some graphic stuff that goes on in animal processing facilities. Gave me even more motivation to hunt. |

I think I would be ok with catching and killing fish. I heard of a former Vegan who now eats meat, but only the meat of animals he has killed and butchered himself.
Vegan isn't vegetables only, its non processed organic foods |
