And this is a video I had to share as i would love for the world to see how we gain our independance through marching and unity . It is a short video but simms up our spirit . I hope on September the 19th to great you all once again but as a citeze of an indapendant Scotland . http://m.youtube.com/watch?v=MjAJLggpW2I I already voted 'no' (by post) so I didn't bother watch the video. But I would say that 'marching and unity' doesn't pay the rent.
No one (except the Yes campaign...) imagines that Scotland will have a currency union with the UK, so that means that the 70% of Scotland's total exports that go to the UK will now face foreign exchange costs - how do you think that will affect Scottish exporters? Scottish companies have already been losing billions on their share price due to the threat of independence, and several international banks have said it could lead to a recession or even depression.
Scotland and the UK economy as a whole are growing at 2.5% to 3% per year, compared to stagnation across the Eurozone. Scottish unemployment is at 7%, compared to 25% in Spain for instance. So there are a lot of positives to the current arrangement. I realize some people like the SNP are just really, really into independence, and don't care what it does to people's livelihoods. As long as you're going into it with your eyes open, that's fine I guess.
A final thought on 'marching and unity'. Nationalism is about the opposite of unity. It is about division, about putting new barriers between people. If you look on youtube you will find lots of examples of nationalists marching. It rarely ends well. |

pegasis prime wrote:There is also allot things such as trident, the house of Lords, the monarchy, the new rail link ect that we shall also not have to pay towards instead the funds that would have went there shall be used for the betterment of our country. Scotland it's self through various taxes pays 9.8% of the UK ' S income but recieved 9.3% of its spending this its self shall balance out very quickly as that 9.3% share in spending also includes trident ect. Spending is 9.3% of UK total, however in the latest year for which figures are available (2012-3) revenues were 9.1% of UK total assuming geographic split of oil and gas (84.2% goes to Scotland). Details here. |

On the contrary, the polls generally have 'no' ahead. Regardless of Salmond's QQing, the Yes campaign Gëá Scotland. |
