Im thinking about getting a new assault suit. As i have a prof 5 CR and always use an SMG as sidearm the min assault is the natural choice. But from using the cr on scout suits i dont really feel like a bigger clip would be a game changer - more a 'nice to have'.
So maybe id be better off with the amarr assault. This would cost me more SP as id have to put SP into the ScR (dont even have op 1!) as well but maybe id end up with a better overall package. I have an amarr assault alt and know what a difference it makes to the scr (unfortunately i dont have any alt with enough sp to try out the min assault).
Thoughts? |

I'm in a similar position. I've recently been trying out the minmatar assault and found it rather enjoyable. The slot layout gives you a fair amount of fitting latitude and it doesn't feel too plodding, even after playing a scout for most of the last 6 months. The bonus seems most useful with the aCR. I've been running it with damage mods/dual tanked with a good amount of success. The modest increase in eHP that may come with hotfix delta is another reason the minmatar assault is a decent choice. I have the Amarr assault on my alt, so it was an easy choice to try out the minmatar on this toon.

I have the min assault and I gotta say its pretty pimp, its really fast with a wicked stamina regen, it is really versatile and can have lots of cool fits, damage and armor tank, speed and shield, speed and damage, I will warn you tho, if you like speed and damage and proto weapons you may use a proto pg upgrade on certain fits, but the majority of my fits run 9.5- 9.6 and have about 400 shields and 300 armor. I usually use fits like this

6 kin cr
6 kin smg
core locus
compact hives
2 reds COMPLEX
pg
comp reactive
The amar on the other side is cool I guess and the scr bonus is dope but id say that if you dont even have pooints in it than its not your first instinct and id go minmatar but....
Use this as a decider minmatar is getting a small hp buff and the smg and cr ar losing shield effectivness but gaining armor destruction I think -20% shield and +20% armor and im not sure the smg changes.
And you can be sure the scr is getting broken anytime now so personally I'd say say save the points up before anything and hopefully they deployed delta before you spend them, wait till delta drops.

I love that thing. At proto its ruthless.

Thanks for replies so far, all very constructive. I have about 1.2mil saved up and wanted to try out something new but it is probably sensible to wait til delta. |

With the second MCC, you can get a few extra million (1-3 million), so, SP will be pretty easy to come by.

in delta all minmatar suits get an EHP buff. minmatar assault is as fast if not faster then some scout suits..  go forth! and wreck face!

You have balanced slot load-out so you can shield or armor tank depending on your needs. Its mad fun once you get used to its style of combat. Also EHP buff in delta....Looks like projectile based weapons are getting profile changes too, so anyone invested into those weapons will be affected regardless.
I don't use amarr but regardless million clone challenge is coming so save up a large pool of SP first before committing to anything.

That's part of the reason I'm thinking about ScR+AmaAss, think the CR could be hurt pretty badly by a 15/15 or 20/20 profile. ACR may also have dispersion increased. I'll sit on my SP for now I think. |

I've been in a few dirt naps because a few min assaults started to armor tank in Fw so now I kinda play a mid to long range game in Fw now.

Min Assault is viable and the extra sized clip (due to racial bonus) is very good.
How do you kill that which has no life?

Skill into Minmatar Assault. I ve been staying with it even after the 1.8 Respec. It is so fast ( just like a scout ) and you can get about 800 eHP while still being fast and repped . The clip bonus works really well with the assault CR.
Sniper Hunting and Noobs Trolling are my specialities.

If your compare Min ass to gal or amarr Min is so BEAST. Don't know about caldari though. That 3 3 and 4 4 at proto amazingly op and also a ehp buff coming to delta. Man If they could change the color to red/black then you'll have the definition of badass.

I'm at 1.5 mil unallocated and after trying out the MinAss on an alt, I'm definitely gonna skill into it with no regrets. It's a beast suit.

I've been min assault since it was created. No other proto suit. It's kinda sad to see it go from rare and cool to popular but I'm coping. Anyway, it's a very good suit with a ton of versatility. The amarr is extremely good too though. You should ask yourself whether you want to stand a deliver or flank and gank.
I also recently have been having fun with all biotic module set ups and the min assault is by far the the most capable for this.
Melee = 550
Sprint speeds > 10 m/s
And endless stamina.
What happened to the repair tool glow?
Why won't CCP answer?
