got my shade's on for all the glare from hate staring...
So most the time I notice a battle is totally one sided is when there is a full squad of good players coordinating on one side but no squads on the other.
We have PC, for hardcore elites ( with signifigant cost and payout ) and Factional for more serious battles ( better salvage and gear from loyalty points ). Why not give casual gamers some sanctuary, a place where each team has a fair chance most of the time.
Yesterday while playing domination against a q-sync my team was squadless and full of randoms plus one top ten all time kills player and me. Within one minute from the start of the round the opposing team already had the objective and was at our redline. At that point the top ten killer left I fought back in all proto gear (vs full proto) all round going 5-7 even doubling the wp of the top score on their team... Well I tried.
After the battle I message the top ten guy asking why he left ( silly me thinking he'd be kicking ass by my side ) his reply... " f*%k that I'm not playing that one sided bulls#*t " <---- kinda my point.
My idea at least pubs every one is on even ground each time. Scream it's a team based game if you want but your still on a team without squads. Factional gets a boost since corps will play in squads, and pubs won't be as easy to stomp by groups of high sp vets.
And flame on.

theres your first problem.
taking squads out would make the game boring. youd have to play fw which is awful or pc in order to play with friends. eve has a mechanic to protect new players but ccp messed up dust with a team that didnt know what they were doing so we dont have the high security systems that are usually the refuge for new players. they need to add a matchmaking system based on planet locations, high sec is only basic or miltia gear, low sec allows advanced, basic, and militia, and null sec allows proto and everything else. thats the first step to helping new players. it gives them an equal field to play on more or less and it also divides up part of the protostompers by forcing them to play against other proto users if they want to use proto gear.
among other fixes, but unfortunately dust has been axed.

Is from playing in corps, the sitting around waiting for 12 idiots to be ready only to have one assclown mess it up, the exploit abuse, the epeen stroking after beating a team of milita newbs with scouts that can't even passively scan the enemy assault Suit standing next to him, even the "elite player" who screams bloody murder because he gets killed by an re gets old real fast ( ever seen king thunderbolt ) , listining to kids scream an the background because your ignoring them, or gramma telling you to come out of the basement to do chore's. All makes me happy I have real friends and a game I can play CASUALLY.
Also I see plenty of good (supposedly) players get beat horribly when they don't play with their corp.

The problem with removing Squads from Public Contracts, is that you're effectively removing one of the only good things left in DUST 514; the social aspect.
Many players still play DUST as it allows them to converse and play with their friends. These players are not only the "hardcore elite", but new players and average ones as well. First, let me focus on the "new player" perspective. Sure, getting stomped out by a well organized squad is no fun, but a new player who joins a squad has many benefits, ranging from being shown new tactics to receiving fitting advice, and even what suits fill what role.
A perfect example of this, would be the Learning Coalition. In this channel, new players frequently squad with experienced players, and learn many of the things I mentioned above and more, which allows the player to become well versed and experienced with DUST. This is only possible if the Mentor can squad with the player, and assess their performance to see where improvements are needed. Not to mention that it's hard to guide someone when you can't see them.
Then, we have the Average Joe. The kind of player who isn't necessarily inexperienced , but isn't among the "hardcore elite" either. He has an Average sized corporation as well, which he enjoys squading up with frequently. Due to his lack of "high skill", his squad may tip the scales slightly in their team's favor, but it wouldn't be a significantly one-sided match either.
Now lets assume that you're changes were implemented. They wouldn't be able to play PC all the time, as their corp lacks the ISK to make that feasible, and not everyone is allied with the same faction, which rules out FW. So because of their inability to play with each-other, they decided to disband the corporation. Then, they notice that there are other multiplier FPSs that let you play with your friends, and decide to meet up there instead of DUST; thus driving them away from DUST as a product.
The above may only be hypothetical, but it is a very probable situation. Not only that, but one of the main questions that would be begged here, is: "What would the purpose of corporations be if I can't play with my friends?".
Keep in mind, that not everyone fights for the same Faction (as mentioned earlier), and the deployment times for an FW match makes things impractical if you wish to use this as an outlet to regularly converse with your friends. Now that we've ruled out FW, let's look at PC. Currently, a Clone Pack is 50m ISK.
Assuming you play about 75 matches a week (15 more than what it takes to cap out on average), and earn about 200k (how much an average skilled player is typically payed), that's 15m ISK obtained. If you have a 10% tax, you're earning 1.5m ISK from every active player. Let's assume you have 370 players (enough to field a full team during all timezones), you'd be making 555m ISK.
This seems like a lot, but when you consider the steep price of clone packs (50m each), you're only looking at 11 matches you can play (assuming you only attack) before running out of funds for the week. Considering how an average player is awarded 3k SP per match, you need about 60 to cap out. Basically, under you're model even if people who wanted to play with friends flocked to PC, they'd only be able to play with each-other about 18% of the time (even less than if you play beyond the SP cap.
Not to mention, that removing squads doesn't necessarily guarantee that matches won't be one-sided. It would still be possible for experienced players to all be stacked onto a single team, and considering how the current Scotty has no way of weeding out the new and experienced players, it would most likely become a common occurrence.
There are many solutions to solve one-sided battles. In fact, CCP themselves have developed a new matchmaker (which hopefully will be deployed with HF Delta or Echo). However, going nuclear is not one of them.

Not going to happend. Every other FPS game allows you to form a party/squad and then deploy into matches. Removing squads from dust would be a critical mistake cause people like to play together and not with random twatts.

Ever thought the only reason some people do well is because they never play with twats?
Almost convinced the reson I never see the people that get 3-5k kills a week is because I don't play idiotbush and they only play when they can q-sync against a corporates suicide alt.

I'm also almost convinced the new "mu" will make matchmaking easier to abuse...
3-4 high mu squads sync for a match, team with less high mu squads waits for match to start then leave, Scotty fills team with lo mu players or slowly refills with random high mu players with no squad leaving battle lopsided or one team with fewer players long enuf for one team to gain significant tactical head start. Or sumthin' similar.

Random squads automatically?
Sir, you are an utter ass for suggesting some poor unsuspecting pubbies should be involuntarily subjected to my glory without recourse.
Auto squad would only insure a stream of smartass invective and maniacal giggling that runs nonstop and makes ears bleed. Especially when someone obliges my need for destruction and provides me tanks to vaporize.
As I said to one poor, unsuspecting pubbie random:
"I play video games to have fun, not act my age."
Please, think of the unsuspecting pubbies.
Although I admit listening to fourteen year old kids coordinate tactics, plan fits and tell me they have better ideas on what skills are critical is nothing short of comedy gold. |

My favorite ( I squad a few times a month... Call it morbid curiosity ) was being told a mimitar scout could run 13m/s and his logi passively scanned 100m think he went 4-15 the next round. I will now jihad a CRU just to try and wipe my poor clones memory of him.

How about a squad scrambling feature for pubs?
Randomly,a deploying squad will be split up equally (WP/D ratio, and K/D ratio) and put on opposite teams. After the battle the squad re-forms automatically.
Excuse:Pirates attacked the neural transfer interface.(the thing that lets you leave your MQ,and deploy for battle)
The trigger could be: -Consecutive wins -Wp threshold reached within a set # of matches

Just saw your monthly k/d all further posts will be dissmissed as lies. Go positive for a month and I'll take you seriously .
And after seeing one, and hearing from another good player they cherry pick matches I guess I'll just ignore everyone while I'm at it.
Considering I never snipe and only run a tank for maybe one match a week for giggles if I spawn into a round that's basically over and theirs no supply depot ( not good at it no sp into em ), and run solo 99% of the time it's amazing I ever go positive apparently.
Never played a PC match but from what I'm learning it's probably easier than pubs since it's filled with the same guys ( only evenly matched ) I'd be surprised if any one left their own redline.

I think no squads in pubs completely is a bad thing. But squads should not be squared off against blueberries either.
Pubs need matchmaking. Squads vs Squads Equal Skill vs Equal Skill Equal SP vs Equal SP (optional)
Or as close to as can be achieved, otherwise it's pretty much just stomps all the time.

id like to agree but i also disagree.. squadding up in pub is training for FW and FW is training for PC.. i would however like to see 2 things change..
- lower squad numbers to 4 in pub mode
- lower OB cost from 5k to 4kthis would inherently be a nerf to OB use as going from 833WP per person in a squad of 6 to 1000WP per person in a squad of 4, a squad of 4 can still be a force to be reckoned with while still not being as OP as a 6 man squad seems to feel like..
this will encourage its use against scrubby roof campers which every one seems to whine about but are too lazy to get a goddamn DS or ADS and "hotdrop" that **** .
