You know that helpful little icon that appears when you have a nanite injector fitted that shows you nearby bleeding mercs? It is a vital tool. One day, while running my Caldari logi, I realized we need an icon for something else: low ammo.
Proposal: the icon has slightly less range then the nanite injector icon: 15m
Looks a like the silhouette of a nanohive.
It only appears when a friendly merc is at less than 25% total overall ammo. I am going with total ammo rather ammo with the currently drawn weapon, but I am interested to hear feedback on both options.

Pokey Dravon wrote:Very good idea, though I think I'd vote more so for 25% of your primary weapon instead of overall. I kinda see the sidearm as a "Oh ****, I'm out of ammo, this needs to last me until I find a hive to replenish my primary." So If I'm below 25% for both my primary AND my secondary, I've gone without ammo replenishment for far too long. Do we consider grenades as part of that equation?

Arkena Wyrnspire wrote:I would recommend it be relevant to the currently equipped weapon, rather than total ammo count. I would be worried it would cause the icon to "flicker" as players cycle through their weapons as we sometimes do... resulting in confused or frustrated logibros.

Jaran Vilktar wrote:+1 I'd love to see this be added. It would be especially usefull to let those repping Logibro's know when their "beefcake" Heavy is about to run out of ammo instead of trying to expect people to interpret the meaning behind a Heavy starting to jump, switch weapons or melee said logibro because he just wants to rep you and doesn't seem to realize that you've run out of ammo.
Logibro: What is it boy?
Sentinel punches him in the grill.
Logibro: You have full armor. What's wrong?
Sentinel rolls his eyes then emphatically points to his HMG.
Logibro: You... want... another gun?
Sentinel hefts the long (empty) belt of bullets exitting the side of his HMG and grunts.
Logibro: No. I can't repair that. That's a gun.

I didn't think of that, but as a dropship pilot you don't have the ability to detect if your gunners are out of ammo. This symbol could be adapted for their HUD too.

Given the maximum amount of ammo a FG can carry and how quickly you can empty a magazine at a HAV or ADS... that symbol would pop-up very quickly for FGers

CommanderBolt wrote:What suit did you use for this? I think I only have the Gallente scout these days, I should go see about making a fit.
The Caldari PRO logistics is what I used. It maximizes the nanohive potential. A scout could deliver the nanohives faster and quieter than a logi, but would have to make more frequent trips back to the supply depot for more hives.
Here is a Gallente scout nanoninja fitting. A scout would actually have the CPU/PG necessary to fit a decent weapon after fitting the cloak. A logi is forced to make the decision to run PRO weapon or PRO equipment. In most cases, equipment is the better idea.
Tactics-wise, you are going to want a squad. You plan a route to them, cloak, arrive, drop nanohives, recloak, return to supply depot to get more nanohives, repeat. Along the way you avoid redberries when possible and help blueberries with spare nanohives.
