I think we should get CCP to do an event that rewards people using all of the fancy officer gear.
Lets be honest with ourselves. Most of us tend to save our officer gear and I bet a lot of people that have it have already left the game. Chances are the rest of us will probably stop playing the game way before we ever run out of officer weapons. Its a game, we should use them!

Hmm... how about something like this
Really high drop rate of officer weapons in salvage for the event, featuring all the new officer weapons
200sp for every kill using an officer weapon, 15 kills gets you a free officer weapon of that type and some other stuff to keep you stocked, so maintain a 15/1 k/d or above with an officer weapon and you won't lose it
Terminating (shooting or exploding the corpse, no revives) an enemy clone that is using an officer weapon gets you 2500 sp and some fancy loot/isk?
Using an officer weapon can get high rewards, but everyone will be gunning for you once they see it in the killfeed to get the massive bounty on you |

Officer variety is a bit lacking, but honestly I don't really see the need for officer NKs. Charged ishnoks do the job admirably well.

I actually love the ion pistol. It's fun to one shot cal scouts and min scouts. Never had it overheat with one unchanged shot though...

This thread isn't really about the loss of the Balac as it is about how hilariously bad the IoP is.
I have sharpshooter V and Gal Assault IV, this thing is as good as it gets, so what does the IoP do?
Overheat when it's not supposed to.
