Does anyone actually use them on medium or commando suits?
In all of my time I cannot think of even one occasion where I saw a cloak on a suit OTHER than a scout suit.
Are there any even semi viable tactics with funky cloak fits for mediums / commandos?

Cloaks eat PG/CPU like a fat kid eats cake. Never put them on anything but scouts.
Scouts have faster walk/sprint speeds too, which maximizes the cloak duration.

I have a cloak fitting on a Commando C-I series, had to use a PG enhancer I believe. All in all you end up using a lot of CPU and PG on the cloak and like I did use one of your precious modules on a pg or cpu buff just to fit other stuff. I tried it with a rail rifle and a sniper. It was alright but to say I got good use out of the cloak would be lying. If I ran cloaked, I still got shot, people saw me. I only had the basic cloak because of, well, fitting limitations so it doesn't last that long. After a while I just swapped it out for an uplink and upgraded the weapons a little. Can't say I recommend it. Have not tried on proto suit. |

it is not bad if used to move around in a commando but the profile and size of those fat boys hamper its usefulness nice for long range fits but really falls apart at mid to close ranges plus commandos already got some fitting troubles and cloaks eat ALOT of PG/CPU
i have seen some very good logis use it as means to break away from a fight as well as to move with a light fast moving squad great for moving around but once again it falls apart because most scout will see you even if you damp
so it can be used on a light weight speed logi for running equipment into a hotzone or for breaking out of tight firefights to support your flankers i have used it on a minnie speed logi and it works for getting away from the main horde and lets me support the guys pushing the enemies flank or attacking a far point.
the big thing you have to keep in mind is that it is visual only scouts will still see you as well as active scans but if you lvl damping to 5 you can slip by everyone but the scouts so keep an eye open at all times looking for that shimmer most scouts if they see you cloaked will laugh and try to run up to shoot you point blank cause they think you are being dumb but if you know what you are doing you can use that to your advantage and turn things around
so be smart avoid the big fights and stay on the move and you can make a cloak logi work

I remember hearing rumors about this one player who runs a Caldari Commando with 3 Complex Myrofibs and a Cloak, meleeing everything that his stubby little hands happen to come across.
But other than that, no I haven't seen others barring a few Logis. Though I have experimented with STD Cloaks on my Assault and Commando, but you honestly don't need them.

I've seen them, yes, and they light up on the minimap like Christmas, and it's as easy as following the bouncing red chevron to find them. They are useless on anything other than scouts which can disappear with low scan profiles.

Actually got a STD cloak to fit on my proto min assault. Had to fit a cpu and pg module and had my other 2 slots with a rep and cardio enhancer.
I actually had some fun being a rebel assault trying to be like a scout. Of course scouts and anyone with a scanner would see you but very lol fit if any. Too much cpu and pg to fit any role decency. Only really viable on scouts, working as intended
My biggest LOL moment is when i ran into a squad of reds with heavy/assault combo and they had me low on life and chased me to know end. Found some open space around a corner and activated my cloak and didn't move.
That moment when the reds turned the corner (LOL) and didn't see me there because they were right on my butt and no way i could have gotten out of Line of Sight that fast. I watched the reds run circles around me twice before going back. No one thought to look for a cloak'd assault. Needless to say i shot and killed them as they made their way back. I know they were yelling WTF when it happened.

It used to be a more common thing before the cloaks got nerfed and you could get your usage out of a basic. Now it's pretty rare to see, and I don't think I've spotted any medium or heavy frames using it... I guess that means it's working for them~!

Scouts have faster walk/sprint speeds too, which maximizes the cloak duration. Logis get the PG/CPU reduction too (unless they nerfed that already?). Even so, a logi profile is too high for it to be very useful. What's the point of being cloaked when you have a red marker over your head? Also they're slow, which as you say limits cloak utility. |

Haha you're damn right. I laugh at scouts that think I cant see them. Usually just before I try and pick them off from range with the trusty laser or Tac.

What would qualify as low ammo?

I would say anything below 25% is low ammo right?
