Vertical movement is the problem. When a ds gets shot by swarms they fly straight up so i proprse that vertical movement for swarm missles be bufdes. As in it can move further vertically but keep horizontal movement tje same.

I worked hard for my prof 3 swarmers and min commando, so no I don't think AV is overpowered against vehicles right now (especially not to pre 1.7 levels - my god that was so OP). Especially when a good tanker/pilot gives me a good run for my money. I've had solo tankers/pilots kill at least 3-4 of my 80K suits...

But in NO WAY do I believe AV needs a buff. A dropship being able to escape a swarmer should be the entire advantage a DS has. If they don't have an AB and good piloting skills, they're already putting themselves at a severe disadvantage to out run your missles anyway. It takes me 3 volleys to take down a DS (a bad one as the 3rd almost never hits a pilot and the 2nd never hits a GOOD pilot).
As a swarmer not even at a proto level, you're already robbing a pilot of their job. When I'm on the field, I'm the DS pilots bane. They basically spend the entire match going back and forth from their redline to me as I pinata points off of them.
My suit: 80k. Their dropship: 400k.
Let's stop all this asking for the DS pilot to be a pushover when it already gets killed when it skirts by ANY building or hitbox around a building that happens to so much as look their direction.

Given the reduction in number of missiles fired and the questionable usefulness of being able to lock onto two targets simultaneously, I'd like to see the SL divided into two types: the regular version which is what we have now, and an assault version that features faster missile speed while giving up a large chunk of homing capability.
In essence, you could have regular swarms that are more valuable against tanks (due to the slower movement speed and ability to seek out cover) and the assault swarms that could outpace dropships (but would be susceptible to being outmaneuvered.)

In order to do this you would need to negate one axis (probably Z axis, since we're talking about height).
In other words, don't expect it to happen.

No, not in favor of this idea at all. This feels to me like making already underpowered swarms half as effective as they are now. Swarms v Tanks feel relatively balanced to me, but need a buff vs. Dropships. Yes, dropships cost more than A/V suits, but suits also are primary targets of infantry, so the cost comparison by itself doesn't mean much.

Get a Myron, put an AB on it, hover over a danger zone, then fly away when you start getting hit by AV with the AB on.
But you probably won't get away, because you'll be falling to the ground on fire. |

Funny, as a player with a dedicated AV build I've often run into the issue of dropships darting away the moment my initial swarm volley hits them. Good pilots will bolt after the first swarm, decent ones will get hit by the second volley...and the worst pilots will die. I've watched plenty of times as my swarms valiantly chased after a fleeing ship only to self-destruct after failing to catch up.

Apparently you can't read, swarms have the same top speed as a dropship w/o afterburner. The buff will give them a 10 m/s improvement, meaning at 175 meters it would take 17.5 seconds to close the difference, well beyond their max range.
In short, you are bliwing smoke out your ass.

Clearly you don't run swarms or dropships. Or understand physics. Some education.
Swarms travel a set distance in a 3-dimensional plane, meaning they can travel any direction in 3 dimensional space up to 400m. There is no separate "vertical distance" or "horizontal distance" there is simply "distance." Swarm distance is found by the equation distance = speed x flight time. What you mean to ask for is more speed or flight time on the missiles, meaning they will fly farther before fizzing out.

One, pretty sure he does. Two, I'm not sure if that's even pertinent, because whether or not he plays the game has no effect on the speed of vehicles that has been put into it's programming.
So, unless you happen to have programmed it yourself, analyzed the SDE in great detail, or otherwise have access to more accurate data than he does, the only logical conclusion is that you are a bad pilot who is unable to escape projectiles that are slower than you are, even with a sizable head start.

Even for a game dust has very unrealistic missle tech, missles can out pace an aircraft otherwise we wouldnt use them in real life for taking out aircrafts. If there not gonna do what they should then they shouldn't be in the game. Unless there's an obstacle in the way a swarm volley should hit everytime you get a confirmed lock. |
