You cancelled the game.
Hotfixes are minor tweaks.
So why not try ideas out?

rebumping
The vast majority of what I saw yesterday was militia, std, and a smattering of Adv.
Help balance the game by making flattening the power creep - allow all hulls suits to cost the same.
Other thoughts:
reduce to squad size to 4 - which makes more sense to balance out 16 v 16
why not make an ambush solo player and ambush oms allow squads

Hulls as in vehicle hulls?
3-4 thousand extra armor and shields for 8k (ADV dropsuit cost)?
Yeah,1.7 is that way...

Never gonna happen

But then for new players the game would be even harder as they would be the only ones NOT in proto. If this change came along, why would anyone not use proto if there was no increased cost involved?

Absolutely serious.
People are already skilled into them but dont use them
Plus it costs 350 to go advanced or approx 700sp into the specialist frames to go advanced By making it the same price it would get people out the standard and milita frames that plague pubs
And gives a reason for people to skill proto
This game is already hard for new players it actually gets them into the game quicker by reducing the power creep

How does that reduce power creep? It just bumps everyone up to max power instantly, unless of course they're new and don't have the SP to do so. So....Proto Stomp-o-clock all day every day?

I think what the OP is getting at is leveling the price of suits but increasing the prices of tiered modules which is more in line with what they want to do with Legion.
Try the new Planetary Conquest Mode!

Cause everyone stops running militia or standard suits
Seeiousy: how do you or everyone not get that?
I would rather play with or against people in decent gear.
It's still an rpg in that you need to invest in your character.
There will be less of a power creep if the suits run in puns are rubbish suits and we are closer to each other

Why does it matter? I run pure BPO/Standard gear and typically land top of my team in kills and WP.

Cool story bro
I find it quite boring shooting militia, standard, advanced suits constantly . I would rather my or the opposition team played in decent fits.
The challenge would be that much higher.

This is an interesting suggestion but I doubt CCP would do it simply because a lot of people will argue what about the low level players etc, etc.
The positives to this is that it actually gives an incentive to using proto, most players with proto suits only use advanced suits. Also it would increase end of game isk rewards since there is a crap ton of isk being destroyed so even a low level player would still make decent isk. I would guess that end of game rewards would increase to around 600K to 800k.
Some might argue that it would encourage proto stomping but that is slowly fading away in Dust, if CCP followed the EVE model were items are basically the same except some might be slightly better or behave a tiny bit differently, or just overall have better fitting costs, Protostomping would again fade and this idea would be welcomed (seems to me legion will balance closer to EVE)
There are negatives to this idea though, one it would require restructuring of the prices of modules and every single drop suit in the game including every promotional drop suit, market, fw, and aurum. This is probably the #1 reason CCP would never do this. There is no room for bpo or those infinite militia suits in this model, as it would undoubtedly lead to isk farming. Unless rather than changing the prices of everything they made every drop suit a bpo with increased destruction cost, never gonna happen.
I believe it's a decent idea that would allow for more freedom when playing Dust mostly due to the increased isk rewards. But on CCPs side this would be extremely time consuming.
