Path Two: Ranks - Currently we are facing 'Cannon Fodder'. Marked ones are higher ranked, and are generally faster, stronger, and harder to kill. The more marks, the more powerful. (Keep in mind Jonny only killed a Marked One with 1 Mark).

Path Three: Both!

A capital ship is capable of jumping to a cyno without the bridge if the cyno distance is within the capital ships jump drive range.
