I have found that these little bastards are tricky; every now and then my hits don't count at all, be it to infantry or enemy vehicle even when point blank. The indicator is red, I see effectiveness and all that jazz but no damage is taken by the enemy.

The only problem I find is when they keep firing without actually firing, so you end up overheating and losing ammo... Pain in the arse... A lot of vehicles escape me because of this. |

Is that it? Not actually firing? Is that a common, known bug? I just encountered this yesterday.

These are common problems with all turrets. And even some infantry weapons.
Gun does not fire. Gun fires but does no damage (shield might flash blue). As above but doesn't use a round from the clip either. Gun fires on its own until clip is empty, will overheat weapon. Gun will not reload, will not use a round and thus cannot reload.
If you own the turret try turning on/off a module in the vehicle. Damage modules seem to cause more problems that other modules (at least in my experience).
None of these will be fixed as no client work is being done on Dust514.
In New Eden no SP is wisely spent.
CCP will Nerf the reason right out from under you.

I just posted this bug.....didn't see this thread. This is annoying....sometimes it happens when the enemy tank has one more shot left to kill. Nothing comes out the rail or it doesn't register damage and then they destroy my tank.
But it isn't limited to small railguns...I'm referring to large railgun turrets

Yeah, have seen this as well with my LAV equipped with 20GJ particle accelerator.
Just yesterday I was shooting at enemy scout standing still at point blank range 5 times, get to see the red axis flash on the aim indicating a hit, but no damage. Shot enough times to overheat the turret and then some assault unit came from behind the scout and killed it with just couple of shots.
Edit:
Adding another incident from yesterday as well. Was shooting enemy Incubus that flew around. Half the time no damage at all. It seems to be completely dependent on luck whether it'll do damage or not. If you switch from turret to driver seat and back it might reset the turret so that it will do damage the next time, but having to rotate between the turret and drivers seat just to figure out when the turret will be doing damage is ridiculous. |
