Dust's issue is all of the cheesy mechanics that they have deployed. And with the importance of logis, I don't see why why this game needs cheesy mechanics. Scrub shooters can make themselves be vital to a match by playing support, AV, etc. You don't need to be invisible or be able to camp on top of buildings/pipes etc That is probably the one thing that I've disliked about Dust that I wish it could change: mechanics and gimmicks somewhat playing roughshod over actual teamwork coordination and actual will to win.
When you think about other shooters the one odd mechanic in Dust514 is sometimes the desire to win playing secondary to overall kills/SP's earned. Dust had this really huge potential to push FPS games in a new direction and instead of finalizing game imbalances or fixing how weapons can be really overpowered you instead have them hammering away with adding content from cloaks, to RR's to CR's to how overall eHP can sometimes meet a smidge shy of a heavy to how we now have a 2 suit dominated game.
In all honesty, developers and players miss one point way too often: a nice, clean, polished game with most of the bugs and game balances hammered as soon as possible after launch is always going to make your playerbase stick with you and support you versus "hey you can buy a cloak now" grab.
I may be significantly alone and in the minority in this thinking but in my world, if they spent more time addressing the hotfixes now being released right when beta launched and less time developing more weapons, equipment and sidearms, at least no one would be wanting a respec as much or have a scout/heavy dominated game and you'd might even avoid how the AR just flat out sucks versus other weapons that it competes with.
I really do feel it took really little to make Dust a success and they somehow messed up with the direction they took with it. I also find it ironic that there aren't many Devs/GM's that like to comment on negative threads about Dust but are more than happy to bro~love positive praises. Players aren't always right, I get that, but not having that dialogue also means you miss a lot of the points and fail to circumvent the tons of flame rage threads. You guys really need a full time PR person.... |
